Already a Plucky PS3 owner in Japan has updated his 20GB PS3 Hard Drive to a much nicer 120 GB, the full pictorial progress can be seen on Ruliweb (http://ruliweb2.dreamwiz.com/ruliboard/read.htm?num=19646&table=game_ps04&main=ps).

Heres the screen showing the new hard drive size.

Is this a custom hard drive or a Sony product. Has it been hacked already?

Amazing. Too bad I am of the mind that the 60gb model has other features aside from a larger disk drive. But hell, I'd go out and get a 300gig for my PS3. Would actually make it useful as a 'PC' (since Sony seems to be of the mind that the PS3 is a PC).

Added:

The drive the person took out (or installed, not to clear on that with characters I can't read :p) is a Seagate drive, so any other Seagate drive should be compatible, but I gurantee any IDE hard-drive (ATA 133 probably) would work.

sweetness, this is really going to add an additional market to 2.5" sata drives. especially the bigger ones. come on 2.5" sata ram drives, come down in price! [I want no latency] [:

i got on newegg and 120 gig drives that size run about $125usd. that is probably a good price comparison starter.

I'm guessing he either owns a store or bought it from the local Yakuza to have one to mess with so early
