Due for X-Flash V16g COMING SOON:
- Support for firmware versions 2.71 SE-A, and possibly 2.71 SE-B2.
- Support for firmware version 2.71 SE-C if it has arrived.
- Detection of 1.50 registry files being used with 2.71 SE
installations with the option to write a new 2.71 registry.
(firmware version 2.71 SE)
- Donations screen where the nicknames of donators will appear.
- Plain Black PSP About screens.
(firmware version 2.71 SE)

X-Flash V16f (Dual Firmware Support) (http://xflash.pspstuff.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4)
The same program runs on 1.50 and 2.71 SE, and behaves accordingly
after the PSP firmware version is auto detected at startup.

New for X-Flash V16f:
- Fixed biult in Plain Black Backgrounds. (firmware version 2.71 SE)

New for X-Flash V16e:
- Fixed 2.71 SE file inflation bug. Several rco files, once modified,
were being written back appended with zeros to match the larger
size of their 1.50 firmware counterpart. This causes more
consumption of memory on flash0, and possible verify failures if
there is no remaining space. This bug has been present since V16.
- Set PSP nickname to "raw" to find an option to perform a
complete 32Mb binary flash dump. The raw dump routine is
an sdk sample. (firmware versions 1.50 or 2.71 SE)
- Biult in Plain Black Wallpapers are 1x1 resolution to collectively
save approx 70 Kb of space over the stock XMB backgrounds.
(firmware version 2.71 SE)

Note: many considerations have been made to ensure this release works
smoothly on both supported firmware versions.
Features pertaining to Dark_AleX Custom Firmware POC for 1.50 are
disabled in 2.71 SE, including the prompt for it's auto installation at first
time use. Writing mp3 file to flash feature is disabled for 2.71 SE due to
lack of space left on flash0 after 2.71 SE is installed. Custom Gameboots
are limited in size to 618Kb when using 2.71 SE for the same reason.

I am always interested in correcting any repeatable problems that may be found.

SE-C? do u know something we dont know? :O

possibly art is one of Dark_AleXs beta testers for the firmware and he has a beta of the new version (kinda like ahman has the UMD patch, letting UMDs run from iR Shell on 2.71 SE) and dosn't know if publicrelease is out, lol, then again, probably not :P

Anywho, nice work art, saving space is always good for this f/w(small black background pics), gonna try this outnow

if u didnt originally change it through x-flash thats ur own fault...
i bricked my own backgrounds, had to reinstall the firmware....no big deal when u have recovery mode.

anyone who doesnt trust x-flash is a damn fool.

If the font size is too large it will partially brick it like my freind above ^^^ said its easy to recover and X-Flash is in no way responsible for bricks stupidity is.As with all progys that write to flash use common sense and caution.

how do you recover from a bricked psp using Devhook 0.46.

Cloudhunter

You don't... and way off topic. You need to have recovery firmware to recover from a semi-brick.

A semi brick is when you mess up flashing a font, or a background that the PSP doesn't like. They are, however with a recovery firmware.

Does this version allow for personalised nameplates on 2.71 SE?

I think it's not possible to flash a very detailed name_plate image, yet...I heard it's being worked on though....But alas, you can always make a simple custom one if you keep in mind the size and format he's provided already. Here's one I made. Enjoy.

What's the max kb allowed for SE users?

Apoklepz
November 15th, 2006, 19:21
I'm not exactly sure of that...but the image I made is lower than the originaly provided one and works fine for me...1.13kb PNG format I think it is...

What I did was simply make a Monochrome bitmap image in paint (black & white colors only) and later save it as a PNG image so I could add another color (in this case dark red) instead of white.
Remember, he states in the readme that only basic name_plate backgrounds will work for now, because more elaborate ones seem to require the firmware spoof hack, which is currently disabled for SE users, cause it'll lead you to partial bricking and having to recover your fw. Hope this helps.
