George "Geohot" Hotz (http://www.edge-online.com/filter/all/tags/757), the man who posted the PlayStation 3 "root key" online and opened up Sony's console to piracy (http://www.edge-online.com/news/ps3-hacked-wide-open), has been arrested for possession of marijuana.
Above The Law reports that Hotz, 22, who also devised the iPhone jailbreak, was stopped by police at a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, on his way to give a talk at the SXSW festival in Austin.
Police found a quarter-ounce of marijuana, and "chocolate edibles" equivalent to an eighth of an ounce, in his car. Hotz was booked for a felony and later posted $1,500 bail.
Hotz was apparently on the straight and narrow, working for Facebook after he escaped the legal might of Sony. The companysued Hotz (http://www.edge-online.com/news/sony-fights-back-ps3-hacking-lawsuit) for his role in PS3 piracy, but the protracted legal dispute was eventually settled out of court (http://www.edge-online.com/news/sony-and-geohot-settle-lawsuit) before full proceedings began.
