Overtakes the US to grab top spot.
App analytics firm Flurry claims emerging market China is one step nearer to becoming developed, leading the globe for Android and iOS smartphone and tablet activations with 24 per cent of the market.
China started 2011 with just eight per cent of the market, growing very slightly in August to ten per cent, which has more than doubled in the space of six months.
However, China's rise has been to America's downfall, ensuring the states fell to 21 per cent this month from what was 28 per cent at the start of 2011. It should be noted that the US actually rose throughout the year, spiking to 34 per cent as recent as December 2011 before plummeting at the turn of the year.
This supports our report (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/china-to-become-largest-smartphone-market-in-2012/017425) that China is set to become the largest smartphone market in 2012, as many make the transition from feature phones to smartphones.
Additionally, China leads the world for 'app session' growth – the launch of an app and a minimum use of two minutes – securing a 1126 per cent from Q1 2012 to Q1 2012, while Argentina and the Philippines follow with 599 per cent and 546 per cent, respectively.
