Size upgrade would outmatch rival device the Galaxy S II.
Apple's new iPad has barely been unpacked, but iPhone 5 rumours have already surfaced from South Korean media, according toReuters. (http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/22/us-apple-iphone-idUSBRE82L01G20120322?feedType=RSS&feedName=technologyNews&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+reuters%2FtechnologyNews+%28N ews+%2F+US+%2F+Technology%29)
The report cites an "industry source" that claims Apple has decided on a 4.6-inch retina display for the next iPhone, over a full inch larger than the 3.5-inch screen featured on the iPhone 4S.
The size upgrade would officially regard the device as a superphone – a high-end smartphone with a four-inch or larger display – to put it ahead of the 4.3-inch display of Samsung's flagship Galaxy S II device.
We recently reported (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/almost-90-per-cent-of-smartphone-owners-desire-four-inch-screens-or-bigger/017412) that almost 90 per cent of smartphone owners fancy a superphone-sized screen for their upgrade, so Apple may do well to listen to consumer desires.
