Useless to present what is Psx-P because I imagine that everyone knows that Yoshihiro continues to develop this Psx emulator for PSP. To make you benefit from these last projections, it decided to publish this weekend a new playable version of its emulator.

Description:

For recall, PSX-P is an emulator intended to emulate the PS1 of Sony. It is a bearing of PCsx

What is nine doctor?

This emulator with known a certain number of changes since its first version and Yoshihiro with taken again more once its work with zero.

The last version to date in date will be published in the weekend even if it is still far from the laid down objectives. Compatibility was widened and I hope to be able to say some to you more before the release because I do not have yet this version in hand.

Why a public release finally?

Yoshihiro was said that it was time to give pleasure with all those which support it and to forget the few jealous ones which tests décrédibiliser its work of bearing. It makes of sound to better try to make turn this emulator but the obstacles its difficult to cross.

The setting on line will be accompanied by the sources but these last will be given, initially, only with some programmers referents in the field of the PSP so that they can judge evolution of the product.

Should be an interesting weekend, lets hope and pray we get no more of the source release problems that marred the first great release.

lol yea

haha and it wasnt running at 49 or 56 fps

it was running at 30, thats it

but the original emu mightve been even slower than 7

i tell ya - it will be a day of biblical proportions if he actually releases the source code this time instead of yet again violating gpl.
time indeed shall tell. i dont have money but if i did i would lay odds that it wont include the source code, again.

My reason for the bet? he has yet to release the source code for the FIRST release. he doesnt want people to know how much code he ripped off from other people, and also how much coding he has/hasnt done himself.

I love the translation! XD Engrish! Either way... I've been wanting to play FF8 on my PSP... But just this emulator running won't fix my dilemma... I also need a bigger memory stick... >_> (*Uses the 32MB stick that came with the PSP*)

PSX isos are like... 150 MB or more, depending on the game! O.O Really big files.

It will be interesting to see how well this runs and i hope the source is included, i have heard reports of yoshihiro leaving the scean so that way others can carry on his work if he does go.

@ kiariki...I got my 2 gig MS from amazon.uk was a seller on there called "try-my-memory" i was a little worried incase it was a fake, but joy...its all good, 24 pounds including recorded postage, sweet!!

Didn't Yoshihiro throw a hissy fit and leave the scene? Don't trust this guy, you'll get burned every time.

Since I'm French, here's a proper translation:

No need to introduce PSX-P as I believe that everyone knows Yoshihiro is still working on his PSX emulator for PSP. In order to share with you his last progress, he planned to release a new playable version of his emulator this week-end.

Description: PSP-X is a PSX emulator for the PSP, ported from PCsx.

What's up Doc ? This emulator experienced several changes since the first version and Yoshihiro had to redo his work from scratch more than once.

The last up-to-date version will be released this week-end, despite it's still in early ages of development and thus, still far from the planned goals. Compatibility has been improved and I hope I'll be able to tell more about this before the release, because as I'm writing I don't have the latest version.

So why a public release ? Yoshihiro thought it was time to please people backing him up and also time to forget about the few jealous ones who try to despise his porting work. He's doing his best to make this emulator working, despite many difficulties.

The online release will include the sources, but to begin with, they will only be given to some PSP dev wizards, so they'll be able to judge the product's evolution.

Nice, but this obviously will be slow, no sound, and limited support :( but if this is real , its still one heck of an accomplishment

dagger89
November 18th, 2006, 20:44
Since I'm French, here's a proper translation:

If that translation is true, then it will STILL VIOLATE GPL OF PCSX! The PCSX authors want the source code to be available to EVERYONE, not just "some psp dev wizards" (aka close friends who won't release the code, and thus the code will never make it to the general population's hand, so we can't see his BS)

Oops
November 18th, 2006, 20:55
Dagger89, please forgive my non-native English but I'm quite sure that the translation is correct. Porting from PCsx and restricting sources access to some elite coders are clearly staten in the initial text.

However, one thing is not clear, because of the 2 statements:

- PSP-X is a PCsx port.
- Yoshihiro has started his work several times from scratch.

Not sure if it's the porting work which has been re-done from scratch or if it's the emulator itself which has been completely rewritten.

I'm fairly sure it's the first option, otherwise it wouldn't be considered a port of PCSX

November 18th, 2006, 21:55
he has no right to restict the source code to selected elite coders because its based off of gpl code - if he uses so much as one line of any gpl code he HAS to release the source code otherwise it is illegal software and the original authors of whatever code is used can pursue this through the courts.

Ill say it again, he is a thief and cannot be trusted. he has burned us all before and will do again. he WILL NOT release the source code because he doesnt want us to see what he stole and because he did virtually nothing to it. i seriously doubt he has the ability to recode an emulator from scratch.

Sounds like he's going to give the source to some devs before he actually releases the emulator publicly. That =/= gpl violation.

Great news. can´t wait to try it. I´m glad that he´s releasing the source code, at least to some devs.
Unfortunately there´s always people just waiting to jump in and attack. I´m happy that Yoshi´s still working on it. Nuff said, now lets see that beta, lol.

people might actually respect him if he releases the source code publicly, :rofl:assuming of course he actually did any of the coding. i think it would be wise for him to release the code seeing as he is breaking the law.

a nice find. unfortunatly those waiting for the release will most likely be disappointed because it means that when it is released most sites wont host it because it will be illegal. this site removed the last version because he didnt release the source code.

I missed out on the last release cause I was on holiday, by the time I got back I wasnt able to download it from here (I guess for the reason you just stated). :( From what I've heard though it wasnt exatcly a great loss (ie: no compatibility and a serious lack of speed), but I'm hoping this new version will be worth trying out (if it stays on the site). ...lets hope the source code is all in order?

Since wraggster mentioned a while back about this other PSX emu (by AC) I've gone out and purchased quite a few games at the hope of being able to play em on my psp... finger and toes crossed something will happen soon.
