I don't get people and Firefox....

Neither do I. Opera is just... better. It's been around longer (than firefox proper, of course not mozilla), it has basically ALL the same features built-in, can have plugins and widgets used in it, is faster, etc etc.

still using explorer, the benifits of adding any searchbars to the google toolbar i think is a really good benefit.

You can add search engines in Firefox, personally I hate an extra toolbar, and as said above, enjoy the adware :p

You can also do that in opera. It has standard templates for a dozen-ish search engines (including amazon).

Firefox Myths (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html) :p
I love Opera, it's simply the best! It doesn't miss one single thing. The newest beta of Opera (9.10) also has fraud protection built in.

People tend to stick with what works for them, so there's no incentive to try something else.

I use FireFox and I love it. It does all I need it to and makes surfing easy and beats out IE, so there's no need for me to try Opera. The same way Opera users don't see the point in trying FireFox.

That how I see it.

Many people just try out many options to see which one is the 'best' for them, even though another might never illicit thoughts of needing to switch, another may still be better.

I've used all the major browsers and firefox works best for me, i used to use regular mozilla and loved it back then. I'd be using Opera if I wasn't using FF.
Anything based on the IE engine is horrible if you ask me. IE7 is a step forward, but not nearly as big a step as was needed.

Firefox for the win. I've used opera and I've used IE. And Flock. And the PSP Browser. And Mozilla. And Netscape. Firefox I prefer the most, it fits my needs. People say "Yeah, but Opera has more functions!", but sometimes it's a bit too much. And the layout IMO isn't that great.
