ok, so I seem to be having some issues with getting FF3 friend codes sorted, and I thought others may be able to help/seen it before.

Just in case anyone doesn't know the exact requirements for setting up friend codes, and then getting the onion knight, just follow these steps.
This info may be elsewhere, but I'll put it all here anyway ...


Part A. Setting up the codes

1. Exchange friend codes with someone.
2. Visit a moogle. Enter the other persons code in your address book. If you get an error message there could be two reasons.
-- The code number is incorrect ( try again with correct number )
-- The code number is correct but from a region not supported by your version of FF III. ( sorry, but you are going have to find someone else to swap codes with )
3. Go Wi-Fi active. Go to "Moghouse" and select "From Faraway Friends" to recieve mail. This will register the friend number. The friend code numbers will remain grey, and you will not be able to send e-mail unless BOTH persons have completed the above.

When this is done, the next time you select "From Faraway Friends" the colour of the code numbers will turn to white. You can now send messages.

Part 2. Getting onion knight

Onion knight quest sequence will be fully activated activated when you successfully send seven e-mails.
-- The number of e-mails you recieve is not relevent.
-- The other person doesn't actually have to download the e-mails.
If you are using the time trick by advancing your DS clock 1 hr after each message,
-- Don't forget to send e-mails to NPC's
-- Make sure you save the game after each message you send !!

Hey birdtimothy, the difference between a greyed out friend code and a white friend code is that you could send messages to a white friend code but not to a greyed out friend code.

Next thing, if you get an error message when trying to add a person's friend code that must mean that they have a different version of the game (US, UK, EU, etc.) and you can't add a friend code that is from a different version than yours. Some DCEmu members who have FFIII most of the time say what version they have so look out for those.

to all those pondering over whether or not its worth doing the extras... TRUST ME it is, im now leveling my lvl 99 hp 9999 onion knights in the ??? cave and there almost godlike. all i need is 1 more onion sword and 1 more onion helm and they will be fully equiped, heres my current party

Luneth lvl 99 - hp 9999 - Onion Knight (front row fighter) <- full onion gear 2 swords.

Arc lvl 99 - hp 9999 - Onion Knight (back row black mage) <- full onion gear 2 shields no weapons.

Refia lvl 99 - hp 9999 - Onion Knight (back row white mage) <- all onion gear except using ribbon, 2 shields no weapons.

Ingus lvl 99 - hp 9999 - Onion Knight (front row fighter) <- full onion gear except using ultima sword and 1 onion sword.

i know they could be all using swords but i like this party, plus i hate having only fighters.

by the way Arc and Refia are close to immortal using this party.

im sticking with this team until they are all job lvl 99 and ive got the last of the onion gear im hunting then im gonna kill the giant, after that im going for all job lvls 99 and the job cards + legendary job equipment.
