Some rumour news that can be taken with a pinch of salt until its released but apparently a coder who released the SE customizer will be releasing a 2.80 downgrader tommorow.

No other details are known and for now its just a rumour.

at walmart only, tomorrow early in the morning so that it doesnt get sold out (because of black friday, PSPs are 170 USD). i suggest u look at the back of the box, look for an individual letter: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, or H will do. H=FW 2.5, then you can downgrade. anything above H may have the motherboard and will have a higher firmware

A 2.80 downgrader would actually be a pretty big step for the scene. With 2.81 & 2.82 not too different than 2.80, it could maybe lead to someday being able to download even 2.82 PSP's. Downgraders are very dangerous though so we should keep a close eye on this development if it turns out to be real. I would be thrilled if turns to reality.

Are you serious? That is actually a pretty solid deal. I doubt there will be any non TA-082 versions though unfortunately. If anyone finds any, please report where you purchased, what firmware came pre-installed, and what box letter.

Dude, I can play that game on my 1.50 PSP via DevHook 2.71 firmware emulation. 2.80 DevHook is not necessary for that game or any game yet for that matter. Well, except for Cabela's Safari.

well, like i saw on the "write to flash0" news post about 2.80, i dont see how u couldnt run a downgrader, cus if ya overwrite all the files and delete the files that come from newer firmware, then that's downgrading in action.

in my eyes -- the guy who dont know skuat programming or coding -- the only trouble would be maintaining execution as the files are overwritten.

I upgraded my 2.80 to 3.00 for Socom FTB2 yesterday... If I didn't I could switch my PSPs roles upgrading my TA-082 and downgrading my 2.80 but I was too impatient even though I heard about 2.80 having flash access. O well, I doesn't make much of a difference. But I wanted 2.71 SE instead of 2.71 with RevDevHook.

as far as i can remember there is one that a dev had but it was too unstable to release the app to the public. Very ez brick rating... it had complete access to all the files on the nand.

not entirely true. accordin to dark alex if u use his downgrader with a ta-082 mobo, the lowest fw you can install is 2.5 so u can browse between 2.5 and up wo tueva fw youd like(as long as you can downgrade the fw)

the 2.60 downgrade is been out ALONG time ago we are waiting for a 2.80 downgrader go to qj.dl.net and get the 2.60/2.50 Downgrader. Also as u can read that they were testing it TODAY so we gotta wait al lil longer until we know if is bull or for real

EDIT: when u get the downgrader its going to tell u were to look to see if u got the TA-082 MB or look were the UMD disc goes look at it on the inside if u see a yellow writing that means u got TA-082.

Not really, if you like playing a few commercial games, it would be the reason to upgrade, as there is no 2.8+ devhook yet. Besides, even if people didn't upgrade, the console and games would never sell, killing the system in the public market and taking away our joy of kicking Sony right in the teeth when we find a way to break their security.
