how do you find firmware, will your psp need to be connected to the computer

the firmware is always provided by the Offical Sony PSP sites. Yes your system will have to be connected to your PC if the firmware is to be installed.

thanx for replying guys but last thing, if i use one computer for storing music and stuff like that, could i use another computer for downloading firmware

You can use as many computers as you want.
