View Full Version : 2.71 Special Edition - Revision C custom firmware

wraggster
November 25th, 2006, 22:29
Dark_Alex has released a new version of his Custom Firmware for the PSP, heres whats new:

- Load of plugins from the ms
- Changes in the HEN core:

* Fixed a bug in the loading of big user prx's, that affected a plain prx of socom2 umd, and some
homebrew prx's.

* Bypassed a crappy $ce protection that prevented the umd to be mounted if the application was run from
the memory stick

* Usb mass storage couldn't be loaded by homebrews in non-devhook version because semawm.prx is sign checked.
HEN now applies the algorithm to reverse the sign check, letting this and the rest of firmware
modules to be loaded by a homebrew.

- Added a SDK for SE-C/HEN-D. (in a separate download).

Do Ghost in the Shell & NFS Carbon Work now? With the 2.71 B'' GITS freezes after first intro logo. NFS Carbon freezes at the first Sprint Race at 49% /50%. With 1.50 both Games Worked.

Can Anyone try / has anyone tryied and reply an answer?

otherwise Dark Alex is doing a great Work.

@BigBrainbug: If it didn't work, you could have ran devhook in 2.71SE-B... I suggest trying it, as it has some bug fixes, Socom 2 works now even in plain prx mode.

@adyagos: Read the ones for the previous versions then... You need to run the program that makes the DATA.DXAR file that comes with it, or use the update option if you already have an SE.

Anyhow, great work Dark_Alex :) I shall be trying this later ;)

I dont think there is an easy install from SE-B to SE-C. I think you need to do the whole 1.5 eboot and 2.71 Eboot thing that you had to do with SE-A again.

Nice to see this updated. I am hoping that there will soon be friendly competition between newer DevHook & 2.71 SE since it seems a lot of homebrew users argue over which is the better way to go.

All work from Dark_AleX has proved to be amazing over and over again so this is good stuff.

I am a little confuzzeled.

Do i need to downgrade to 1.50 from 2.71 SE-B" then up to 2.71 and then to this? This is the impression I am getting from the readme.

November 25th, 2006, 23:38
To install this u need to recover to 1.5 first and create a new data.dxar with the seudmaker.
U cant use previous data.dxar from se-A or B u need the new dxar special for se-c that u can make with seudmaker

siulmagic
November 25th, 2006, 23:39
hmm very confusing theres no clear instruction if can yust update to rev c or you have to do a ful install of it like with the dax file hmm

siulmagic
November 25th, 2006, 23:41
hmm dang il ust stay in rev b''

Destroyer699
November 25th, 2006, 23:47
You DO NOT have to go down to 1.5 to update. I took a risk and made the data.dxar in 2.71 SE-B". Then I upgraded from 2.71 SE-B" and it worked fine. One note though, it deletes all the themes and such and puts back on the normal ones. You might want to make a dump to save it.

My PSP lives one more day....

scarph
November 25th, 2006, 23:49
ok i just got OC.prx running
an overclocking mod

all you do is put the prx in the root/seplugins/

then add a text file vsh.txt and game.txt

put the line ms0:/seplugins/oc.prx
in each

finally go into recovery mode and enable both

have fun :)

tuta
November 25th, 2006, 23:50
Guys this is easy I just updated successfully.
All u need to do is make a new dxar file with the new seudmaker in the binary wraggster posted

ok to clarify i dont need to make a dxar file to upgrade to se c? or do i

It only worked for me after making a new dxar file through se b and using that one (the previous dxar file merely re-installed se b for some reason)

tuta
November 26th, 2006, 00:24
lol I still cant get any cheat devices like cwcheat and cheatmaster to work with games

I can load it up in xmb but not for games anybody know what I shud do.

To update u need the new dxar file.

I think destroyer updated from se-b to se-c by puting seflasher eboot + new dxar in place of recovery and run through recovery
Am I right destroyer or did u run seflasher from xmb?

siulmagic
November 26th, 2006, 00:25
hmm gues il make the daxr then

siulmagic
November 26th, 2006, 00:28
i tried making the daxr file form my se b'' and i got an error hm il just update later

Cloudhunter
November 26th, 2006, 00:33
You can run it from XMB, you install it in the same way you install se-b from scratch, apart from you put it in the GAME150 folder instead of the GAME folder.

Cloudy

tried making the dar and i got an error hm il just update later

You make it by using a 1.50 eboot update, and a 2.71 eboot update. The 1.5 eboot is renamed to 150.PBP and the 2.71 uboot to 271.PBP ;)

Methinks maybe a small update of my guide to install SE is in order? ;)

uhm. read the 2 min readme and it will magically be not confusing

rdetagle
November 26th, 2006, 01:10
just to avoid confusion, when updating from SE-B to this one, the 4 folders must be put in the GAME150 folder, not the GAME folder like in previous versions.

I tried GAME first, it gave me an "error with dxar file". Works perfectly in GAME150 folder tho.

U cant use previous data.dxar from se-A or B u need the new dxar special for se-c that u can make with seudmaker

You do not need to go back to 1.5 to install this. You just need to run it in 1.5 kernel mode, i.e Game150 or your standard Game folder within 2.71 SE B3 that has been configured to 1.5 kernel mode. I did this and am now on 2.71 SE-C. No need to waste time downgrading to 1.5 at all. All is in the Readme............: rolleyes:

Lodis
November 26th, 2006, 02:09
Could someone create a DXAR file for me?

The Dxar file most likely contains copyrighted content so that isn't a good idea. If you read the Readme and follow the instructions, you won't have a problem. Everything that has been asked so far in this thread is already in the Readme.

There is a way of watching Youtube movies, but you'll need to run a server on your PC with an app called PimpStreamer, and connect to it with your PSP. That way, the PC renders all YT movies (and all other movies you have on your PC or on the internet) to the PSP's format.

The readme file says what is new. I think most of the new things are bug fixes. Reverse Devhook lets you emulate any firmware from 1.00 to 2.71 (loads the firmware from the memory stick and makes the PSP think it's that firmware. So if you emulate 1.50, you'll be able to play homebrew games.

When I originally installed 2.71 SE I had to upgrade my PSP to 2.71, use the downgrader to 1.5 and then go through the process. Not sure if that's still necessary/

Napalm-Death
November 26th, 2006, 18:40
No, as long as you have the dxar file, you can update from 1.5 or 2.71SE-B'' to SE-C.

mikebeaver
November 26th, 2006, 21:00
you need to create a new DXAR file this time round, so you take the sedumaker from the new one and you have to create a new file with the 1.5 and 2.71 eboots, otherwise youll just reflash se-b onto it if you use the old.

fartmonster

No, as long as you have the dxar file, you can update from 1.5 or 2.71SE-B'' to SE-C.

Are you sure that does not affect anything? I upgraded from 2.71 SE-B" to SE-C, then tried installing a module, and I bricked my PSP. Thankfully, recovery mode restored it though.:D

right to go from b to c first i put both sedupmaker files into game150 folder, put in a 1.5 eboot called 150 and a 2.71 eboot called 271.
ran the program from game on the xmb to create the dxar file. let me know when you get this far

PS im also having problems with plugins, i want to run oc.prx, ive put i
the prx file in a folder called seplugins, which i had to make myself! also i have created 2 txt files 1 called game the other vsh and placed a root location and name for the prx inside them both, is this right as i cant get it to come up on screen?

Has a few bugs still
the 2.71 version does not have the flash or WMA enabled.
If you go to folder "photo" and try to enlarge any picture it will freeze up and shut your psp down..
I went back to devhook_ultimate_installer_v109

and have all the 2.71 options enabled and it will not mess up in your "photo" s
