After the disapointing PS1 Emulator release by Sony which requires you to have a PS3 heres some better news.

Tonight Finally is the release time of PS1P the PlayStation Emulator for the PSP - AN Exclusive for the PSP News site at DCEmu. Its been a long wait but our friend Anonymous Coder has now agreed to release the first Alpha of his Playstation Emulator for the PSP.

This release was to be a Single Game release but AC contacted me today and changed his mind so thats great for you all, heres what he emailed me:

The wait is worth it. I'm releasing a version that will run anything. ISO, BIN, Z and ZNX.

The rest you know. scph1001.bin and images in the __SCE__ps1p directory.

This version has some compatibility problems which I plan to fix soon, for example the FF7 intro movie doesn't run. You can play the game though, just get past the intro using a standard PC emulator (PCSX, ePSXe, ...) and copy over the memory card file ( mcd001.mcr or mcd002.mcr).

Use L+R+ up/down to tweak the CPU timing.

I think L2 and R2 aren't working at the moment too.

--A.C.

P.S.: to make things clear. This emulator has nothing to do with PCSX, psx4all or any other emulator already released. The only thing I did was use for the game selection screen, the same font code that psx4all uses--it's from some GP2X demo/app.

Screenshots

http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/ss3.jpg

http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/ss4.jpg

So its time to get trying the emulator, remember PSP News is the exclusive place where this is being launched.

Now this emulator plays a heck of a lot of games and a big number are playable with some even at full speed, some will be slow also, but try as many as you can :)

Wow this is stupid my RE2 that worked fine before now is glitching. When I start out as Leon he won't move anywhere, he just keeps like studder stepping back like he ran into a wall, OVER AND OVER. It's like the car is in front of him when I start out and for some reason I can't get to move him at all. No zombies get near me either so they don't move me? I'm going to delete this emulator and try it again.

PS1 emulators, especially one such as this are very picky about the way you rip the ISO. It want's a raw read bin. Use cdrdao (and a frontend GUI if you want) to make RAW ISO .BIN's. They are also very compatible with PocketISO 2.0 which is needed to make .Z/.ZNX compressed games. I imagine the .z/.znx and .table file need to be in the directory together or it won't load a compressed iso.

Okay to everyone getting games hanging on the " Loading Game... " screen, you need the Bios which can be placed anywhere inside near the Eboot

Now.. for my question...

Where Do I put the ePSXe memory cards?.. They dont seem to be detected by PS1P?

Download the file then put both those folder under your GAME folder on your psp. Then get a PSX iso and place it in the folder that doesn't have the "%" in it. You also have to get the PSX bios to put in that same folder. Just google "psx bios" you should be able to find it.

Good luck GanstaSimms!

I tested FF7 at different CPU speed:
at 100% its quite slow
at 800% its seems fullspeed!!

I didn't tried more than 800%, because I dont know, it may be dangerous for the psp?!
BTW what does 800% of CPU means in term of Mhz?
Usually we use 333Mhz or 666 Mhz but here...I don't know!

Metal Gear Solid crashes after the "loading game..." screen, Dead or Alive hangs at the "loading game..." screen with no memory stick light, and Driver loads up, shows a few of the screens before the main menu, and hangs at a black screen, and does not reach the main menu, with the memory stick light flashing.

Wow... and so the forums get dominated by 1 - 30 post wonders. QJ has indeed invaded.
For everyone asking . . . it wont run on 3.0 or 3.1 . . so dont try.
Gonna Test FF7 and MGS now . Again thanks alot A.C and Wraggy for the testing and release. This is a great day for homebrew and I will continue to lick ass for a long time to come.
Yet I hope A.C Will reveal himself sometime soon ... now that your emu is out in the open.
So... in closing.. thanks for the work and cant wait to do some testing :)
EDIT : BTW I notice Valar posting alot and trying to give advice.... the only thing I want to see posted from you is you eating your words son . . . because yesterday . . and I quote you . . "Hopefully this wont get released and we will see its a fake" .

How do I use PocketISO properly?

Everygame I have ripped comes from the disc at about 600mb, but when I convert using PocketISO, they come out at about 3 - 8mb; which can't be right. I've tried normal and Maximum compression.

Help! I need them compressed because I only have a 512mb card atm...

I load up final fantasy VII and then select continue, then I select slot #1 and it finds my mem card fine. It's just I select the save I want and it says loading then just goes to black screen. ok cap'n, just use DVD decrypter to rip the iso of your disc, it would work... alcohol will rip CD's, but they are ripped to then be mounted for use using alchohol to mount them.... best bet is to use dvddecrypter...

and Vega, haha, yeah, well, a PSX emulator does kick ass, but if I had known that Sony was going to @#$% us over by demanding that we pay them another 600 bucks, I would have not bought another psp for 3.00, to have the PS1 emu on there, I would have waited and kept my 1.5'er and waited for this to come out...

dont get me wrong, this app kicks asses, but, its still slow, still no sound, and it makes me so mad that we still cant play any games from PSX on our PSP's with the high quality resolution an all....

Oddworld is almost working at 100% by just setting eloader at 333, i'm playing with the % thing. the graphics are a little screwy but very managable. this is a worthwhile try.

no sound, it's not supported yet on this emu. I think sound is the last thing to worry about. Get the games working first then hit the sound last. But Oddworld does work at almost 100% without messing with his % thing up/down. The graphics are a little screwy once in a while but it's the best i've seen yet. Tekken 3 was fun but a little too slow.

k dudes I need your help . . . I have placed the memory card file (mcd.001.mcr) directly in the PS1P folder... yet FF wont recognize it. would it possibly be because I ripped the PAL FFVII ?? Any help here would be awesome

I would guess that would the problem, because I've got the US version, and it worked fine for me.

I have bins, I have ISOS etc, i have the emu installed. I have tried them in the __SCE__PSXP dir, in the roms dir - still the emu boots with no games to choose from.
What am I doing wrong?

Sorted.
Far to stupid and drunk to read the readme carefully enough :P

Has anyone got a bin file to work? I have tried 2 different kind and it just gets stuck at the loading screen. Any info would be much appreciated.

I see some peeps cant get this working. There should be no folders. Now if you would readme file (thats why its there) you should put the games and bio in the same folder as the eboot.

Now Ill admit thats not the best file layout but for now it will do.

Damn it.... we need a savestate for the PAL ff7

You can put your iso on your PC and use the pc emulator to make the save state then rename it.

Anyone test the Lunar games? Ill check it out after I finish with FF7. Ill test FF8 also.
