And for everybody asking, yes I believe you can downgrade 2.71 SE-C to 1.5, but you can run the current DH so I don't see why the next version won't work.

It probably wont be able to emulate 3.01. Sony change the flash filesystem in 3.01 to prevent flash writers, downgraders and the like. And 3.01 adds nothing anyway but that, so its pointless.

3.0 is the big one thats important (even though not so much now since the PS3 is needed to download PSone games...)

2.71 SE is a special custom firmware that combines the abilities of 1.0, 1.5 and 2.71 all into one little package. So you can play the current games (as of 2.71 and some even beyond it), play 1.0 and 1.5 homebrew as well as TIFF homebrew made for 2.71, as well as having all the features that 2.71 currently has (WMA support, Web, RSS, etc).

Its a good deal, but personally, I don't see the point in using it. I use my PSP once in a while and usually do one thing when I am using (either games, or homebrew, never both in one sitting; and restarting the PSP isn't all that hard). And I am not really a fan of writing to flash, in the event anything should go wrong (but thats just me; Dark Alex's programs are very safe, if you know what you are doing.)

You're best bet is finding a link off of this site to Dark Alex's; I don't know any off hand and wouldn't want to send you to the wrong site.

Great news Booster!!! Awesome work. Its great to see you back.

I also prefer just emulating firmwares with DevHook over a 2.71-SE solution at the moment so this is great news. 2.71 emulation on DevHook is so solid and reliable that I hope this can be carried over using newer firmwares.

Would love 100% functional 3.00 DevHook emulation.

i think it'll say it'll only emulate up to 2.81, but it will be able to emulate 3.00 kinda like how 0.46 devhook can ONLY emulate 2.71 when it truly can emulate 2.81.

It's actually kind of funny that it is a little known fact, since 2.71SE has the 1.5 kernal in it to, making nearly all 1.5 homebrew run on it.

From what I know, it will have 2.80/2.81 because thats what the beta Dark_Alex saw was able to emulate, the beta was never tested with 2.82 as we know, but the beta was very buggy and had no ISO support, I hope Booster was able to fix those bugs, and with the new 3.00 decryption, maybe even 3.0 emulation, keep up the good work Booster, we are all counting on you ^_^

Even now we can combine with 3.00 so its like a three way mix.......and its not hard when im ready i go back to my 1.5, for memories:) and go to SE all over again!!!! SE is da best, but no doubt devhook is nice but i can still have devhook, play my back ups do limitless things with se. can wait to try this..........on my SE to honor booster even thogh we got 3.00 coming to our fingertips:thumbup:

I will be very happy with 2.8x support because I am actually excited for the RSS video support but oh wouldn't it be sweet to have 3.0x emulation up and running within weeks of the 3.00 update. That would be a dream come true and I would have ultimate faith in Devhook. However, the mod chip is always enticing.

Edit: With all of the negative things going on in the scene right now, mostly the possiblity of Dark_Alex leaving, it is great to hear from one of the most highly respected coders in the scene. Thanks a bunch booster.

Both are respected by me and should be respected by all. No matter what your preference is. We'd seriously be back in the stone age of PSP homebrew if it were not for Dark_AleX & Booster.

I agree. Dark_AleX and Booster have both contributed so much of their time to the PSP scene, and they both have made amazing additons to the scene. We'd still be using 2.6 genesis UMD Launcher, if it weren't for them. :D

It amazes me how people don't know that devhook will work on 2.71SE, and that you can also have homebrew in the GAME folder for 1.5.

I am not really a fan of 2.71 SE anyhow. I am happy with my 1.5 and 1.0 as they are. I upgraded my 1.0 to 1.5 once and it just bothered me to no end; after having paid so much to get a 1.0 I go and upgrade it? Nah, screw that. I suppose I will be one of a handful of people who won't use 2.71 SE because I hold too much esteem for 1.5. Its almost disrespectful to the most coveted 1.5 PSP to go ahead and 'update it', whether it be with custom firmware or not.

I still respect the achievements of Dark Alex and Booster and everyone who has made this community great. Just there really is no reason to use 2.71 SE when 1.5 + Devhook does the same thing.
