Hi All,

Yape is the best emulator of Commodore microcomputer family running on Windows and Unix.
The emulator faithfully imitates the C-264 (know also as Commodore Plus/4) model.

It has been written by Attila Grósz, see http://yape.plus4.net for details.

I've successfully modified, and port the source code of the version v0.32.4
and it's now working fine on PSP !

It has been developed on linux for Firmware 1.5 and i hope it works also for 2.x

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

Special thanks to all PSPSDK developers,

Enjoy,

Zx.

It's a first release, and work still remain. It's a bit slow, and there is only one screen size. It may happen also that the sound freeze. :(

Excellent news - the Plus/4 was the first computer I used, nearly 20 years ago! I'd been hoping for Yape (or one of the other emulators) to be ported to the PSP but didn't really expect it! The Plus/4 was relatively popular here in the UK but even so the C64 (and latterly the Amiga) trounced it in terms of numbers sold.

The emulator seems to work pretty well - I've only tried a handful of games so far, but they all work as expected, albeit at around two thirds of normal speed. (The music and sound effects sound a bit odd too, but that's due to the lower speed that thiings are running at)

The games I've tested are:

The Exorcist and Leaper, both of which were fine. I used a keyboard set up with J and S mapped to the square and circle keys and joystick 2 mapped to the D-pad.

Treasure Island:

For some reason back in the day my friends all thought the graphics in that game were very dodgy! ;)

Reflex:

This one needs the joystick set to port 1. If you set joystick two as active, just press "down" to move to the next level.

All in all, very impressive - there really is a great selection of emulators for the PSP available now!

Incidentally for pretty much every Plus/4 game ever released, head over to the superb Plus/4 World:

Yep me to, this was my first computer and back then I thought this was the bees knee's! :D

My computer and console gaming history is now pretty much crammed on to my PSP.

Thanks very much ZX81!

edit: This should be front page news on the main page of the psp news section!

Hi ZX81,
big, bigger, the biggest thanks goes out from my brother and me. Our first computer was a Commodore Plus/4 (i own 2 plus a C16) with the Datasette. Very slowly but now, nostalgic :)

Again, big thanks for porting YAPE to our sweetheart.

I tested PSPYAPE 1.0.1 on a PSP with firmware 2.80, it don't work :( (eLoader etc. didn't work). I hope for the next release or a downgrader for 2.80.

Wow! You sure love coding...

Um.. do you mind if I ask some questions?
If not.. Here they are

How much time do you spend coding?
Do you only code for the psp?
And finally... (Not a question)

You should pair up with Daedleus(I think thats how you spell) and work on that N64 emu. It would be great.

Well back to topic. To be honest zx you are one of my favorite coder and I admire you a whole ****ing bunch as me being 15...

Thank you for actually spending time on all these projects :)

Thanks

indeed ! :)

I will say, more than 12 hours a day ... but only 3 or 4 hours for the PSP, and not every day because i've got a real family life :p

Do you only code for the psp?

Not only, i code also for my job :D (electronic design automotion) ...

And finally... (Not a question)

I haven't enough spare time to work on such a big project, i can only spend few hours by weeks, and this project (N64) is a full time job ;)

VIC20!!!

and...
multiple roms in one zip file for all your emu.

For the vic20, the best is to ask to Christophe (the author of the PSPVice port) : http://perso.numericable.fr/~ckckck/

For all the roms in one zip, technically of course it's not impossible, but sorry i won't change all my emu, only to win few percent space on your memory stick ...

I have asked and asked Christophe many times and he will not be doing any more emulators.

If you don't then the VIC 20 may never see the light of day on the PSP.

Many thanks for you work.

You will always impress me, ZX.

For info, I cannot get pspyape to work on 2.6 firmware
It says "This application has crashed". Anybody see this?
(I got pspggo to work great)

Thanks for your feedback, it's good to know. Anyway why do you stay on 2.6, since the best firmware is 1.5 or 2.71SE ? May be you have a TA-82 :( ...

hi all. i have a quick question.

all of the C64 roms i find are in .d64 format but they don't work with the emulator. i see that the file that comes with it is in .prg and that one works fine.

do i need to convert these .d64 files or something?

This is not a C64 emulator, but a Commodore Plus/4 emulator (another model).

For a c64 emulator, you can find one here :
