View Full Version : 3.01 Devhook Firmware Installer [EBOOT]

Hi
I made a automated 3.01 FW Installer for the latest devhook :)

All you have to do is to install Devhook, install the Installer and put the 3.01 Update Eboot in the root of your memory stick.
Make sure it's called Eboot.PBP and run the installer.

The installer has several advantages:
First, you don't have to extract the PSAR File anymore, the installer will locate the PSAR file in the update and do the necessary steps for you.

Second, the files will be moved to the dh/301/ folder, so you no longer need to move them by hand :)

Third, it creates the F1 folder so you don't get the blue screen of death.

All is done on the memory stick, no flashing is involved.

To finally start 3.01, start Devhook and make sure Firmware is set to 3.01 and reboot.
Enjoy!

This installer is based on a modified version of PSAR Dumper by PspPet, Dark_AleX and Team Noobz
proper shout outs to them ;)

This is totally legal, it doesn't contain any (c) files.
It doesn't work without the 3.01 update ;) (cause it retrieves the (c) fw files from the update ;) )
It currently only works with 3.01 Update.
But I'm working on a version that will support all updates ;)

Tested on 1.5 by whazilla and me and I got word that it doesn't work on 2.71SE, will have to look at it

PSafeP says:

[22:49:54] Scanning File:
C:\PSP\301_DH_FW_INSTALLER\__SCE__301_dh_fw_instal ler\EBOOT.PBP
[22:49:54] WARNING: SUSPICIOUS FLASH ACCESS DETECTED!

now what?

edit:

okay it might be safe, because it says the same on PSARDumper..
so I give it a go..

This is what mine says:

Looking for Update Eboot on ms0:/eboot.pbp
Found Opdate Eboot! (Yes, it is spelled wrong on the psp)
Done!
Failed to create report file
Stick may be full or can't create OUT folder

This made an empty F0 folder on my MS ROOT. My memory stick is not full. I have 662mb free space.

Works perfect. Tried it yesterday manually but the PSP just shut off while trying to start Firmware 3.01, only 2.82 worked. With this installer it worked flawless.

Great work and thanx tommydanger...

One "issue" X and O are switched in the Frontend, like in Devhook. Is that normal?

tommydanger
December 5th, 2006, 23:30
Well I should have said that it was tested by whazilla and me.
For the errors, do you have a 32MB memory stick or use 2.71SE?
It's likely that it will run out of space on a 32MB stick, it doesn't delete the Update Eboot.
It's only been confirmed working on 1.5
thats why it says v0.1b, room for improvement :P

December 5th, 2006, 23:31
i also got that problem, is it the firmware that i got from the link above?

doverkiller
December 5th, 2006, 23:36
cool..
went all fine..

firmware 2.71SE-C..
used update from qj.. (link above)
I don't know if it's a japanese update, but X and O is swapped,
what I love actually :)
working with dh0.51 launcher beta..

3.01 looks pretty nice.. :D
(press Home for devhook menu..)
and the best part:
I can go back to my lovely 2.71SE-C anytime
bebebeeeee sony :p

thanks for the easy installer tommydanger! :)
go for it guys!

tommydanger
December 5th, 2006, 23:46
sweet, it works on 2.71SE (C) too :)
For all who have problems, delete the dh folder and paste it again from the devhook zip and ensure that there is a F0 and F1 folder, and the F1 folder has subfolders in it (it should be there by default anyway)

Johnnysmith
December 6th, 2006, 00:09
Tested this on my 1.5 Easy to use and works great. I can still run the old Devhook .46 as well to run 2.71 emulation. Gonna go and test Socom II now. I'll let you know if it works. Thank you for this easy to use program!

blackrave
December 6th, 2006, 00:11
hacksparrow, I didn't replace the audio.prx when I installed DevHook v0.51. Either the problem has been solved or the installer I used (not this one) did something, although I can't see how, as I didn't have any audio.prx from a 2.71 eboot anywhere.

Anyway, great work tommydanger & co!

Listen !! if u want firmware 2.71 with .46 with all mods installed together with 3.01 theres a simple way to do it.

1. install 3.01 normally as instructed
2. now copy yur normal .46 devhook eboots to Game folder
E.g
G:\PSP\GAME\%__SCE__DevHook_Mod
G:\PSP\GAME\%__SCE__DevHook_Mod
3. now copy the "kd" folder , "devhook.ini" &
firmware "2.71" folder (with mods) from the old
devhook.46 folder to the new DH folder in the
root of your memory stick.
4. Now launch the .46 devhook eboot on your 1.5
and it shud load as usual since the old Kd folder
has no ties with the new 3.01fw emulation.

 hope this is helpfull or gives ppl a easier way to have both

i have attached pics to show wat the setup looks like.

thats what i got didnt though it would be use full since the folder for devhook has been rename differently from the .46

.46 - said DH_ENG
.50 said DH51BETA

something like that i got that

BUT what i did found out is that you can play online in socom ftb2 using Devhook .46 all you need is get the update from 3.01 then switch devhooks and use the other one with 333Mhz so the game plays normal and the server THINKS is a 2.81+ since it already has the update

I'm getting the same problem!!!

Freshly formatted 1gig mem stick - 1.50 PSP

Placed
__SCE__301_dh_fw_installer
%__SCE__301_dh_fw_installer
in the PSP/GAME dir

Downloaded the 3.01 Eboot, renamed to EBOOT.pbp as the readme suggests and placed in the root of the stick

Go to the Mem stick and run 3.01 DH FW Installer

Comes up with a black screen :

Devhook 3.01 Firmware Installer v0.1b
by tommydanger

based on code from PspPet, Dark_AleX and Team Noobz

Press [X] to install firmware 3.01 for devhook

Hit X...

Looking for Update Eboot on ms0:.eboot.pbp
Found 0pdate Eboot!
Extracting PSAR....!
Done!
Failed to create report file
Stick may be full or can't create OUT folder

After which the PSP locks up and you have to manually reboot.

Any ideas or suggestions or what's going wrong?

Cheers

I just tried loading up Socom II with Devhook .51 and firmware 3.01, but it wouldn't let me access the internet. I left the game, and tried to open the browser in 3.01, same problem "An internal error has occurred (80410D17)"

When I go back to 2.7 using devhook .46 I have no problem. Anyone else experiencing this? or is it just me?

XxunknowxX
December 6th, 2006, 00:32
yea i got the same problem is becasue you are tryin to run it with 333Mhz is a bug try running this on default it works great but a bit too slow so just stay with 2.71 and when an update for Socom comes out just use 3.01 to get the update and to got bck to 2.71

uhhh, its not working. i did all the extracting psar and stuff
and its all in the right folders.
i ran hend. went to dev051b.
i selected 301 and started. didnt work.
becasue it said
“startup the devhook
save launcher setting
loading devhook
dh ver 0.45.0000
reboot system”
and it stayed at that screen till i hardresetted.

then i did all that again, and in devhook i did the flashinstall devhook thing.
then selected 301
and still didntt work.

“startup the devhook

loading devhook

you forgot to install the config or F1 from devhook this is what you need to do star devhook and go to flash ram then press O then is going to take you to another screen with white and red letters just press and hold O until it takes you out after that try torun it again if it doesnt work try changing the Mhz speed if neither works then try using 2.82 because your dump is not compatible with this new Dev

This worked fine for me. I do not know why people are saying you do not need to install Devhook 3.01 to flash 1 because you do. My games would not run until I did exactly this.

By the way, I am successfully running this within 2.71 SE C so it is great. I did manage to install this manually but this auto installer is great. Well done!!

This made an empty F0 folder on my MS ROOT. My memory stick is not full. I have 662mb free space.

I tried this with my son's PSP since it doesn't write to Flash1. (I did mine last night with the other installer and it works fine (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=44935).) I got the above message also. I deleted all files on the PSP and got it again. I even formatted the card twice(once in PSP and once from WinXP) and still got this message.

I just ended up flashing his 3.01 also.

BTW everyone - it's not misspelled "Found Opdate Eboot!" It looks misspelled because the lowercase "g" is hanging right over the capital "U".

so for start emulating firmware 3.01, we need to go to flash rom settings? like normal devhook 0.51?

'Launch up DevHook and go to “FLASH ROM” settings, choose install dh to flash1. '

and for 2.71se users, do we need to turn off the No UMD at recovery menu first?

I have firmware 1.5.
I installed DevHook from DH0510000.RAR
I downloaded the 3.01 update pbp, renamed it Eboot.PBP, put it in the root folder.
I installed this firmware installer, and ran it.
it took me back to the 1.5 menu.
Ran DevHook, selected firmware 3.01, and it worked perfectly.

sorry if i'm being noob (i know i'm) but i read in many places and i have many doubts

I'm a TA-082 user, i use devhook with HEN-B. Running the lastest games.

What i need to do now to install the new devhook 0.51 and emulate de 3.01 firmware?

Do I have to install Hen-D first? then i install de devhook 0.51 and after this i run the FW 3.01 installer from tommydanger, after install i put the Official FW 3.01 on MS and then run the new devhook 0.51 and select the 3.01 Firmware?

that's the way i need to do or am i wrong in some part of it? Also my old saves will be corrupted? What about the Blue Screen? With the HEN_D or something else will not be any blue screens more?

thx very much everyone! sry for bad english

Does it work with 3.02 fw ?

Veskgar
December 6th, 2006, 18:44
I'm using a 1.50 PSP.

I took the plunge after seeing that zx-81, the legend himself found this installer useful. Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was another reason why I just had to upgrade. I used this to install a US 3.01 firmware and it worked great. I thoroughly tested most 3.01 XMB fuctions such as photo, web browser, network setup, music w/visualizer, Online Manuals, etc. All seems to work incredible. Even exiting DevHook to regular 1.50 worked. I have not yet flashed flash1 or flash0 but all still works well without doing so. I must also point out that I did not reformat my memory stick prior to using this. (I have so much stuff that I did not want to bother waiting for it all to be backed up) Even without reformatting it seems fine.

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops works great by the way. I've been able to SAVE, Return to XMB using HOME, etc. The game even loads when overclocking but no WiFi will work unless DEFAULT CPU clock is used.

A huge thanks goes out to all involved in making this simple installer.

Does it work with 3.02 fw ?
I have read multiple reports that 3.02 does indeed work with DevHook 0.51. However, I do not know how to set that up so I will probably not install it unless this or another installer can install it correctly.

My biggest gripe is having the X & O buttons swapped. That really blows but is not the end of the world. If anyone knows of any tricks to swap X & O, please post how to.

But anyway, what are you waiting for? Use this installer and then laugh at all of your friends who have a REAL 3.01 PSP.

Mr. Shizzy

Did it. My firmware launches. But when I select my UMD (2.00 version of GTA- LCS) it shows gameboot and then turns off. Same thing as happened with Chaos Zeros installer. Damn... I am running 2.71 SE-C with no .prxs in config. 4 GB Sandisc MS Pro Duo. Kernal set to 1.5 in config. (Also set to UMD Mode - as opposed to no umd mode) Also, why is the F0 folder on the root of my MS empty when I install with this? any help would be appreciated. This has been maddening.

Ok. I switched setting in DH to force 2.00 Disc. I did this with Chaos Zeros installer and it still didn't work. Thank god this one did. Tommydanger, your the man. :D One question, is there a button swap? It drives me nuts having my x and o buttons swapped. :)

PS: if I go into system settings will this one crash? If so does it corrupt my Devhook files?

Works like a charm - installed on my 1.5 PSP with no problems other than the already mentioned swap of the X and O buttons.

I installed using a clean 1GB card to start with, and have now copied the contents over to my 4GB card and have got DevHook 0.44 (2.71) and DevHook 0.51 (3.01) running side by side. Note: I didn;t need to do anything other than copy the memory stick contents to my PC, and then back to the 4GB memory stick.

Simply pressing 'home' when in 3.01 mode allows you to switch off DevHook 0.51 and return to firmware 1.5, thus allowing you to select DevHook 0.44 (or whatever).

Tested on 1.5 by whazilla and me and I got word that it doesn't work on 2.71SE, will have to look at it

will it work on 3.02

tommydanger thanks dude you save me from flashing thanks again brother.

You still have to flash it installs it in the exact same way as manual. However the flashing is safe as it is only flash1. It has the same or lesser risk as changing your settings.

I didn't flash the flash1 files at first but then after a fresh reboot, it did not seem to work right. slowdown in XMB & could not exit MGS: PO using HOME button.

So I installed the flash1 files and things seem to be better. now. Not sure if that helped or if it was just something else but I'm loving it!

will it work on 3.02

no it doesnt we will have to wait for tommydanger to do it.

but I got 3.02 workin.

all I did was

1.install 3.01 with tommydangers .51 auto installer
2.decrypt 3.02 data.psar
3.delete F0 folder(dont touch F1)in dh/301 and replace with F0 from 302 that u have encrypted

remember to copy pspbtnf_game_dh and other 3 files in dh/301/F0/kd from dh0510000.rar

never delete F1 in 301 folder or u will get blue screen of death if u enter system control

launch devhook 301 like usual but this time its 302

In my PSP system menu (while emulating 3.01) it states that my name is "Devhook Firmare Installer" rather than my usual name.

Is there any way to get it to show my proper name. Does this also mean that my MAC address is wrong?

Word of warning. This is PSP-Specific. I copied my files to my cousins MS and it won't load up on his PSP. But when I put his MS into my PSP it works perfectly.

Well if your cousins psp is not 1.5 or 2.71 SE/HEN then it will simply not work ;)
You need kernel mode to emulate the fw ;)

tommydanger, thanks a ton for putting this togeather! Without this it probably would've been another week or two before I got around to mussing about with the files on my own. This is really sweet!

Just a couple of issues: does anyone know what file(s) need to be present or modified to enable flash (and wma) playback? I don't have convenient wireless access, so it would be a pain to try and activate them manually again. Not to mention, who knows whether or not Sony is keeping track of how many times each PSP does that!

Also, tuta mentioned something about the pspbtnf_game_dh file... Does this fix the X-O swap issue? If not, is there anyway to fix it?? It's super weird constantly switching between the different button configurations!

It is a 1.5 and runs DevHook 0.46 perfectly. I think you may have misunderstood me.
The point I was trying to make was this.
The PSP which you use to install DevHook 0.51 onto the MS is the only PSP it will work on. If you try to use a MS with DevHook 0.51 in a PSP different to the one used to install it, then it won't work.
Once I get hold of my cousins PSP this afternoon, I should have no problems installing this.

I think it's because when you extract the data.psar thing it's signed to the psp

ah ok ;)
Since 2.80 the psp uses some new kind of protection when it boots up the fw
That's why you can't use any dumps from other people.
It rejects from loading when the psp differs from the one that originally had dumped it

You have to run the installer on your cousins psp too

He's on his way here as we speak. He's a bit of a dunce when it comes to DevHook. I think the visualiser is gonna blow his tiny mind.

Well done!!

I have a clean install of 2.71 SE-C but mine does not work.
I had to load the two folders in the GAME folder because they came up as corrupted Icons in the GAME150 folder.
Now it just freezes on the PSP screen and shuts off...
Any suggestions?

Do I have to install the FW manually?

Installation worked like a charm! I've only tried one game so far-Midway Arcade Treasures. While the game plays perfectly, my psp turns off when I try to exit the game, but I don't care really.
Thanks Tommydanger!

;) This devhook version rocks with 3.01. I have a 1.50 psp. All I did was plug in my psp to the pc, ran the exe file that will copy everything to memory stick(I had 512mb ms) then run firmware 3.01 install on your psp this extracts files and decripts it on your psp. Next run Devhook and let it autoload into 3.01. Another menu comes up but you can deselect it to continue using 3.01. I have tryed my games and they work!.. remember some of the controls in the menu while emulating 3.01 are reversed eg x/o buttons and the yes for exit devhook to 1.50 is no....
I also got my older .45 devhook working with this on another ms.

Is there any way to get 3.01 running on a 2.71. If so what are the steps. I've tried using henc then running devhook .4x to go to 1.5 then running .51beta after using an easy installer to install 3.01. When i went to run it i selected the UMD i wanted then the version then for it to reboot the XMB not devhook menu and it just went back to the 1.5 screen it didn't go to 3.01. Any suggestions on what to do or is there no way to get to 3.01 from 2.71

Are you sure this is 32mg firendly?

I posted yesterday in the homebrew and emulation section regarding this and was advised not to try Devhook with the 3.02 update on my small memory card, and instead go for a a lower firmware to emualte because it wasnt so big???

i get the error that everyone else gets with not being able to write the report file

Read thru the rest of the thread and you will see various suggestions.

I had the same problem until I deleted completely 46 and installed .51

Some suggest its because the folders for 301 or 302
dont exist yet in .46 so the PSAR dumper cannot write the files.
(They do exist in the .51 install package)
So simply create the 301 or 302 folder in the DH directory on your PSP.

.46 and .51 can run together without issues.

.51 can boot 2.72~3.02
Copy, from backup, the kd, 272 and devhook.ini from the old 46 folder into the 51.

Use the newest 51.
Its doesnt write to flash at all.
