Portal to source child-appropriate clips and trailers.
The news comes from TechCrunch, (http://techcrunch.com/2012/05/16/disney-video-beta/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+%28TechCrunch%29) citing a tweet from a Disney Interactive Labs engineer, the arm of the Walt Disney firm that focuses on mobile and online technologies.
The video search engine – video.disney.com – is currently in beta, but will source age-appropriate movies, shows, collections and YouTube clips for its child audience.
The cross-platform service can be used on all devices – PCs, tablets, smartphones – engaging with a market that is increasingly tech-savvy, while streaming content is in huge demand.
Disney Interactive recently partnered with Talking Tom Cat app developer Outfit7 (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/outfit7-and-disney-to-launch-talking-friends-web-series/017860) to begin work on a Talking Friends web series, which will run on online, on YouTube and in mobile apps.
