Popular physics and animation engine Havok is to be used in the massive RPG sequel Fable 2, Microsoft and Lionhead have revealed this morning.

Apparently, Lionhead's attraction to Havok was so that it could avoid the worry of finding an efficient way to pull off all the complex physics calculations themselves, that are apparently required to create "a huge, vibrant, real time and persistent virtual world such as the one we're creating for Fable 2", says Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux.

"By using Havok, we bypass a lot of the heavy physics maths and concentrate our teams more on the creative and innovative elements of the game", Molyneux adds.
