how can i find out the fw of a psp by looking at the side of the box and how can i find the motherboard type (e.g. ta-082)?

thanks if anyone answers, no one will but whatever...:(

also, letter H and above have TA-082 mobos... i got letter I (2.60) and upgraded to 2.71 and emulated 1.50 to use all homebrew

Not true. I have downgraded 5 K boxed PSP's which were 2.60 non-TA-082's.
