Using a Kinect-style depth camera, individual movements would be mapped to notes and played out (http://www.engadget.com/2012/04/09/conductor-controls-pipe-organ-with-kinect/) by the games console observing the action. The company actually teased a similar function in its Kinect Effect (http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/01/kinect-commercial-sdk-coming-in-2012-video/) advert, where it showed cellists, violinists and pianists all miming in front of the sensor, although we doubt the technology is at a sufficiently capable stage just yet. If granted, it means we could see plenty of intentional arm-waving in future music games, or an even more outrageous stage show from the world's most beloved Gallic (http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/09/jarre-aerosystem-one-gets-a-lalique-crystal-facelift-we-go-hand/) synth maven (http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/19/alesis-vortex-brings-back-the-keytar-piano-neck-tie-songs-on-m/).
