Debut Google tablet to get the new OS four months before other devices.
Jelly Bean (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/google-jelly-bean-big-on-search/018443) launched formally at Google I/O two days ago, with improvements around voice search, keyboard UI, Android Beam and more.
But in an interesting turn of events, Carphone Warehouse (viaTechRadar (http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/tablets/google-nexus-7-gets-four-month-android-4-1-exclusivity-according-to-cw-1087333?src=rss&attr=all)) claims the software will be launched as Nexus 7 exclusive for the first four months.
There's a legion of Android third parties on the market – Samsung, HTC, Huawei – and many were concerned when Google first swooped to buy Motorola, fearing the search giant would favour its new department, though Google played this down.
Of course, the Jelly Bean exclusivity is comparable to the aforementioned scenario, and it could make OEMs feel uneasy, with November marked on the calendar as the very nearest date they'll receive access to the tech.
Meanwhile, Carphone Warehouse will retail the 16GB Nexus 7 for £199.99.
