Ice Cream Sandwich was the most recent Android update to hit the market. It rolled out on the Galaxy Nexus (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/samsung-unveils-galaxy-nexus/015888) in November 2011, reaching just one per cent of Android devices (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/ice-cream-sandwich-on-just-one-per-cent-of-android-devices/016919) by February.
Five months later, and Android's developer team says (http://developer.android.com/about/dashboards/index.html) the figure has swollen to 10.7 per cent, though it still has some work to do to catch up to Gingerbread, which is installed on 64 per cent of devices.
Jelly Bean (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/google-jelly-bean-big-on-search/018443) is the successor to ICS, but the latter will still have some time to build its user base. Jelly Bean is making its debut as aGoogle Nexus 7 exclusive (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/android-jelly-bean-will-launch-as-a-nexus-7-exclusive/018464) in coming weeks, restricting access to third-parties until at least November.
