Streets of Rage Remake (http://www.bombergames.net/sorr_e.htm) is a SoR fan game developed using the FENIX (http://fenix.divsite.net/index.php?opcion=1&lang=en) engine. A Windows version will be released tomorrow, on 31th December!

A Dreamcast version of SoRR is planned for 2007. The FENIX engine initially was ported to Dreamcast by Chui (http://chui.dcemu.co.uk/) in 2004.
So, if you, like me, really want see this game ported to a SEGA console, then make your voice heard on the official SoRR forums (http://bombergames.se32.com/forum/).

Don't mix this project up with Rage of the Streets v2 (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=19038) which is using the OpenBoR engine. A Dreamcast release of RotS v2 is sheduled for early 2007 too.

Cool! And its nice to see Fenix is used. If they release the code, it would be easy to use the engine for new games. (Or port it to Dreamcast). Since its Fenix though, it might actually run on DC without any porting needed. If the DC Fenix interpreter is fast enough.

I doubt that as it seems it's using a tweaked custom version of the engine, so it actually would need a fresh port.

...Also I guess it would need to be modified to work on Dreamcast (or any last gen hardware like xbox or psp). Maybe it's enough if they kick out some of the new visual effects. If that's not enough they could also reduce the sampling frequency of the sound effects / voices. Atm they're using 44khz stereo WAVs at 16bit - I figure 24khz mono at 8bit for voices / sound fx should do the job just fine without any noticable loss in sound quality and would only need about 1/6th of the RAM.

Yeah Christuserloeser, this port will need major work... I checked the files of the game... it's completely outside of Fenix DC capabilities right now (and if they manage to make it run, it will run very, very slow). The DC Fenix port is "fast"; obviously is as fast as the machine can handle, but this game has slowdowns on a PIV!!. I'm not saying that the port will be impossible, but it will need a lot of work. Oh, and I almost forgot that the current Fenix for Dreamcast port only supports one player. Anyways, I'll be here to help with anything I can, but it will be good if they can contact Chui. And yeah, the game is great! :D

Fantastic. Played it so many times, but I just can't get to the perfect ending.
