Android coders can make modifications to OS for Nexus devices.
Google unveiled its new Jelly Bean (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/google-jelly-bean-big-on-search/018443) Android update last month. This prompted Carphone Warehouse to claim the OS would be anexclusive Nexus 7 property (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/android-jelly-bean-will-launch-as-a-nexus-7-exclusive/018464) until November, which isn't entirely true.
Jean-Baptiste Queru, Android software engineer at Google, says (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/android-building/XBYeD-bhk1o)Jelly Bean binaries are now available for third party developers, allowing them to modify apps and the like for Nexus devices.
This will immediately include the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus, while code for the Nexus S and Xoom is set to tie in with Jelly Bean's 'consumer release' in the next couple of weeks.
Improvements have been made to the OS around voice search, keyboard UI, Android Beam and more.
