Vendor could be on course to reach its target of 6m for the year.
Taiwan-based OEM Asus is poised to bag a lucrative Q3, according to Digitimes (http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20120716PD212.html), as the firm's tablet shipments are set to cross the 2.5 million mark.
H1 device shipments only hit 1.2 million, but the sudden spike in interest is due to Google's Galaxy Nexus 7.
The search giant made Asus the chosen one to produce its Google-coated tablet, a $199 effort that runs on the new Android Jelly Bean OS.
Google tentatively ordered 600,000 units to be shipped in June, but the likes of Wal-Mart have been selling out and increasing their stock to reach demand, meaning Asus may hit its target of six million tablets moved in 2012.
