After a UK company rep issued a statement just days ago confirming the lack of an Android 4.1 upgrade path (http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/27/sony-jelly-bean-update-for-xperia-handsets/) for certain 2011 Xperia handsets (http://www.engadget.com/tag/xperia/), Sony's (http://www.engadget.com/tag/Sony/) delicately backtracking and claiming that public info was made "in error." While this official retraction may soothe previously irate owners' concerns, it's still not an outright commitment toJelly Bean (http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/28/android-4-1-jelly-bean-review-a-look-at-whats-changed-in-googl/), as the company's only now pledging to "actively ... upgrades for all devices" -- a carefully worded PR promise [I]par excellence.
