Dabomstew posted this news/release:

An easy way to change the version displayed in 3.03 OE-A system settings without hexediting or manual flashing - and unlike X-Flash, you can use any characters, rather than just 1.00-9.99.

This is tested and working fine on my own 3.03 OE-A psp, but I cannot guarantee that it will work 100% every time.

Read the included readme for usage instructions.

I will release an update if any problems are discovered, but the program will not receive any more functionality (except maybe updates to support later versions of DAX's custom firmware).

What's the advantage of this?

What's the advantage of this?I second this question, surely running 3.03 OE-A would solve any "YOU NEED TO UPDATE" issues?

Note: 3.03 was latest firmware at time of this post.

Unless this is to fix some kind of bug or something ?

Why would people need it kxploiting? Non kxploited eboots work fine for the target firmware, which is 3.03OE-A. Kxploiting just gives noobs another complaint "It wont work on my firmware" when it is made for 3.03OE-A.

Nah, I believe it is just to look cool.

Well....I'd say it's just to make your PSP look good by showing a different version on it. Here's a picture:

So it's literally just for show as in you can go around saying "Ooo look I have 5.99 firmwarez!" ? little pointless but to each their own :)

so does that mean that you can change to 3.02 OE-A system from 2.81 ?

Shrygue

No, you have to downgrade to version 1.50 and then upgrade to 3.02 OE-A from there. Right now, there's no downgrader for 2.81.

This is cool. Just one of those little things that surprise friends that have no clue what the difference between 3.03 and 3.03 OE-A are.

I should change mine to display as, "Over 9,000".

Edit:
Speaking of which, it didn't work when I tried "Over 9000". Did I do something wrong?

Hi

No, you can't. With 3.02, you cannot run any sorts of homebrew software.

If you want to use any programs like this in the future, I'd suggest not upgrading anymore and waiting for exploits to be found in firmware.

This is THE most useless piece of homebrew I have ever seen :-)

Cool, but utterly, completely pointless :P

so does that mean that you can change to 3.02 OE-A system from 2.81 ?Sorry but no, all this simply does is modify your firmware number on the PSP System Screen...
This isn't terribly wise as it now allows for more fake videos regarding downgrading...
