Reincarnated Nokia OS looks to the little green robot to entice users.
Finnish startup Jolla was born last month (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/meego-to-go-again/018568), comprising ex-Nokia employees that plan to revive the OEM's extinct Intel-based MeeGo OS.
The software was originally set to succeed Symbian, but only made it as far as powering the Nokia N9 before the firm chose to partner with Microsoft for Windows Phone devices.
Of course, Jolla has a steep hill to climb to gain share from the likes of leading Android and iOS, so how can it go about making its way to the top of the mountain?
Simple, it will equip MeeGo to support Android apps and hope that consumers will stray away from the official Google OS, according to Gigaom (http://gigaom.com/europe/jolla-says-its-meego-handsets-will-run-android-apps/).
The startup will use OpenMobile's Application Compatibility Layer (ACL) tech to achieve the results, which can make MeeGo a 'vibrant ecosystem' with Android power.
