View Full Version : 3.03 Open Edition B Release

new release via Dark_alex (http://lan.st/showthread.php?p=2152#post2152)

Read Me

This is the update to 3.03 OE-B

Execute this only from 3.03 OE-A or 3.03 OE-A'

changes in OE:

- Patched the firmware to allow decrypted mp4-AVC videos to play at 480x272 resolution.
- pic0.png was not shown in psp isos. Fixed.
- The speed functions were not dummied after setting the speed. This could cause the few games
that set the cpu speed not to run at the selected speed in the recovery menu.
- Changed the structure of the program to have more free ram in game mode.
sysmemp.prx removed, systemctrl.prx splitted into systemctrl.prx and vshctrl.prx.

Note: due to the inclusion of pic0.png, the iso cache has changed slightly; as a consequence you
will notice a slowdown the first time you access game menu after this update, just as if you have
modified the iso folder.

Changes in docmaker:

- A flag that lets increase the limit of 100 png's to 1000 was found. (this is the real maximum
number of images that support the emulator document.dat reader).
The document.dat's created with this version, can have any number of images between 1 and 1000,
and they will work in whatever 3.03 OE version.

Instructions:

- Just copy the files/directories inside MS_ROOT to the root of your psp.

About AVC 480x272
Note that what is patched refers to mp4 avc (which are the ones with best quality).
Standard mp4 cannot play at resolutions higher than the multiplication of 320x240 because the
firmware is not really prepared for that.

To create a 480x272 avc, you can simply download 3gpconverter, choose the psp profile.
And then adding to transcoidng.ini something like this examples: (note: XX is a number not used by
other items).

Example 1: For a 1-pass 768 kbps bitrate:

[ItemXX]
Title=AVC 480x272 768 kbps 1-pass
TitleE=AVC 480x272 768 kbps 1-pass
Command0=""<%AppPath%>\cores\ffmpeg" -y -i "<%InputFile%>" -title "<%Title%>" -timestamp "<%TimeStamp%>" -bitexact -vcodec h264 -coder 1 -bufsize 128 -g 250 -s 480x272 -r 29.97 -b 768 -acodec aac -ac 2 -ar 48000 -ab 64 -f psp "<%OutputPath%>MAQ<%RandomNumber5%>.MP4""
Command1=""<%AppPath%>\cores\ffmpeg" -y -i "<%InputFile%>" -f image2 -ss 5 -vframes 1 -s 160x120 -an "<%OutputPath%>MAQ<%RandomNumber5%>.THM""

Example 2: For a 2-pass 512 kbps bitrate

[ItemXX]
Title=AVC 480x272 512 kbps 2-pass
TitleE=AVC 480x272 512 kbps 2-pass
Command0=""<%AppPath%>\cores\ffmpeg" -y -i "<%InputFile%>" -title "<%Title%>" -timestamp "<%TimeStamp%>" -bitexact -vcodec h264 -coder 1 -bufsize 128 -g 250 -s 480x272 -r 29.97 -b 512 -passlogfile "<%OutputFile%>" -pass 1 -acodec aac -ac 2 -ar 48000 -ab 64 -f psp "<%OutputPath%>MAQ<%RandomNumber5%>.MP4""
Command1=""<%AppPath%>\cores\ffmpeg" -y -i "<%InputFile%>" -title "<%Title%>" -timestamp "<%TimeStamp%>" -bitexact -vcodec h264 -coder 1 -bufsize 128 -g 250 -s 480x272 -r 29.97 -b 512 -passlogfile "<%OutputFile%>" -pass 2 -acodec aac -ac 2 -ar 48000 -ab 64 -f psp "<%OutputPath%>MAQ<%RandomNumber5%>.MP4""
Command2="rm "<%OutputFile%>-0.log""
Command3=""<%AppPath%>\cores\ffmpeg" -y -i "<%InputFile%>" -f image2 -ss 5 -vframes 1 -s 160x120 -an "<%OutputPath%>MAQ<%RandomNumber5%>.THM""

You can customize the examples to your likes, or wait for someone to create a gui.

This is awesome. Really something! A big thanks to Dark_AleX, Mathieulh and all others who helped with this.

I just hope that a new video converter is released to support conversion of videos at 480x272 AVC.

Something like PSPVideo9 where you can create custom thumbnails and such.

Ok, nm something was fishy, I don't mean to undermine any of the staff, I was just concerned.

I figured if it was official then I would be on the Dark-Alex homepages. I was simply overly-cautious.

OK, so when I updated from 3.02 OE-B to 3.03 OE-A, I couldn't use my save files anymore. Will I have to start over again if I update now? Also, my gui (psx2psp 7) has made several succesful eboots, but now it's just making corrupted data. Anyone got tips for that?

Well no one is forcing you to update are they?
This will be a welcome addition to some, for others it will bear no significance, but that is no reason to say it is a let down, its a small update and some bug fixes, kinda like Sony do with all there firmware.
Thanks DAX and Co, keep up the good work.:thumbup:

I found this link for 3GP converter--it's freeware so...

http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=3GP_Converter

and you can follow my tutorial...

First download my zip file attached, and place the .ini file into the 3GP directory -- it's just got an .ini will instructions as suggested by DAX in the readme

eg mine was

Desktop\3GP_Converter034\3GP_Converter034\default_ setting

but make sure it gets into the default_setting directory

and then run the setup.exe and choose Transcoding_PSP-DAX-3.03_OE-B.ini

lauch the application and just drag and drop files and you're ready to go!

Another firmware update from DAX, another time I have to flash my PSP :(
Awesome work Dark_Alex, superb as always, though this release hasn't got much I really care for. Im gonna stick to 3.03 OE-A' for now instead of needlessly flashing my PSP (ive flashed quite alot since January, and while I know this is safe as houses, Im gonna rest my psp until the next update)

thanks again and keep sticking it to those robbing $ony b*stards!

DCEmu is only interested in the compatibility of ps1 games on the custom firmware. Compatibility of homebrew along with compatibility of features itself.

psp iso running will not be spoken or explained here!

Same here.

Ever since the release of XLoader... the first time I could finally enter the homebrew scene... I haven't watched a single movie file on my PSP. I used to do it all the time, mainly with South Park, Ali G and QI. This update doesn't really inspire me to start doing so again. I'm in no hurry to upgrade. Cool new feature nonetheless.

im trying to transcode a 4 minute music video and its going extremely slow and its saying its going to take 7 hours and its been going for 10 minutes so far. IS this normal?

PS im using the 3GP converter that was posted and i followed the directions.

I'm not a PSP video watcher either, so I'll stick w/A' myself. Great to see Alex (nearly) singlehandedly out pacing Sony in terms of innovation on this thing... I see 4gigs are pretty damn affordable now, which should be enough for my entire PSone collection.

Thanks again DaX!

cool update though i was hoping for avi support

Couldn't have said it better myself. I bet it will come sometime in the future. I would ultimately like to see avi supported with any resolution supported so it could just fit it to the screen but that is asking for a lot. Thanks for your great work Dark_AleX. I am not going to watch anything on my PSP if I have to convert it.

Yeah it does on mine, which is 3.03 OE-A; should work on B.

Has anyone actually gotten the video playing to work? I made a 464x208 AVC MP4 file with Handbrake, named it MAQ11111.mp4 and put it in MP_ROOT/100ANV01/ and it says Unsupported Video File.

Shrygue
January 12th, 2007, 20:40
Maybe you should try putting your MP4 video clip in the MP_ROOT/101ANV01 folder, then see if it works.

Hi guys I have a quick question about the custom firmwares. Do I have to start from 3.02 OE-A then goto 3.02 OE-B then goto 3.03 OE-A then finally to 3.03 OE-B? Or can I just upgrade from 1.5 to 3.03 OE-A (With Ex's package install) then 3.03 OE-B? Also does devhook work on 3.03 OE-B as good as it did on FW 1.5?

I really just want this firmware for the PSX games. I know you have to convert the iso to an EBOOT.PBP right? Is it that easy using PsGUI221beta? then just put the EBOOT in a certain mem card folder? As for using devhook with this I wasn't really aware I didn't need devhook still. So this firmware just lets you pretty much put UMD ISO's in a certain folder and play them like devhook? Sorry for the questions it is just I have a 1.5 PSP with devhook on it at the moment and I can play any UMD ISO and it is no trouble, and although I would like to play PSX games on the PSP I would rather not if it is going to be a lot more difficult than devhook.

I guess my main question is this: After I finish installing this firmware is putting UMD ISO's and PSX ISO's simple and fast like it is with devhook? Basically is it like taking the ISO for UMD ISO games and putting them in a specific folder and for PSX games just converting them with the PsGUI221beta and putting the files in a specific folder? If it is going to be a big project for every game I want to put on and take off my mem card I'll probably just stick with devhook until something simpler comes out.

I can't really find how to play multi disc games either. Can anyone help?

Zer033
January 23rd, 2007, 11:03
Does it require 2 memory sticks? I found out the ID number has to be the same for both disks and the save game name has to be the same, but do you need 2 mem sticks? I haven't gotten far enough on a 2disk game yet to test out how to switch.

Agrajag
January 23rd, 2007, 12:36
Most games which require two disks, like FVII, let you save before switching. So save, turn the game off, start up the eboot for the next disc, and then continue playing. As long as you have set all the discs to use the same save file by putting the same SLUS number in when you made the eboot it should work fine.

Timic PBPs go in PSP/GAME/<game name>/EBOOT.PBP if you haven't been doing that. Also you have to have a KEYS.BIN I think.

...for PSX games. kxploited homebrew should be in GAME150.

Zer033: it isn't allowed to discuss PSP ISOs here. But for the PS1 ones you either get the Hot Shots Golf 2 game, officially released by Sony, from a PS3 in the online store, or get one of the illegal frontends that don't need it and do all the conversion alone.

If you get the Hot Shots check the 3.03OE readme and the respective one for the frontend you plan to use.

I just put my PS1 games in the game folder. My kernel is set to 1.5. I dont think that matters though.

I notice that it is only possible to get acces to maximum 3 games (iso/cso) on a memory stick, second it should not exceed the 2gb. Even on a 4gb MS it is not possible to access more than three games within the limit of 2GB.

What am I doing wrong?

To be honest you shouldnt be posting about 'backups' on this site as its frowned upon.

He's doing something wrong though cause 3.03oeb does not have that problem (it's defo the golden firmware lol). ...and you really should upgrade from 1.5 to experience the ps1 emulator etc cause I see no reason at all to stay at 1.5??

DCEmu is NOT interested in any iso or backup talk of any kind. Do not talk about things that have to do with piracy, you've been warned!
