A local Texas news station is warning parents that a broadband-connected Nintendo Wii can be a "porn gateway." "It's very upsetting something this popular—a kid game—can go that direction so quickly," says one parent. Some adult websites have tailored their content to be viewable on the Wii Opera browser, which apparently has some parents up in arms.

Of course, the reporter fails to mention how the parental controls allow parents to either disable browsing completely or restrict which "channels" kids can browse. They also apparently didn't know the porn industry is adapting to the Wii because the console is used by adults, who have every right to view boobies in between bouts of Zelda. "We need to keep them protected from people who want to invade a fun game like the Wii," proclaims one parent. Indeed.

Who the hell are these parents that think the Wii is a "game"?

These must be the same parents that still call any game console, no matter who the manufacturer, a "Nintendo".

I am so sick and tired of these people complaining about the fact that you can use technology to access adult content. With all of the gadgets we have nowadays to block that sort of content, there is nothing to complain about. Hell, the new DVD player I got right before Christmas is even smart enough to delete all the cusswords from the DVD's you watch.

Instead of warning parents about the Wii, why don't they just warn them about anything that can get on the internet?

The report was single sided. Only reported on negative side. There is [as said above] the parental controls. There also could be real life parental controls on how the Wii Internet is used. Also, the PS3 has an Internet Browser. Why not target them?

i suggest we all go and hang all the scientistts for creting the internet in the first place. without science, there would be no web and therefore no online porn...

Typical case of over reaction.

These same kids have probably been accessing the same porn for months using the family PC or daddy's company laptop. Who cares?

I would rather my 14/15 year old son sat at home and jacked off to porn using his Wii browser rather than getting the girl next door pregnant.

What a waste of time!
