Video games giant Nintendo is returning to this year's Nuremburg Spielwarenmesse after a four year absence.
Despite the shortage of space on the Nurnberg fair site, Nintendo will have a major presence in the 500 square-metre Paris hall in CCN West.

Dr. Bernd Fakesch, general manager of Nintendo Germany explained the firm's decision to return: “Our new home console Wii, which has been on the market since December 2006, is intended more for people beyond the classic video game target groups, such as older adults. The International Toy Fair is also increasingly aiming at these people in 2007. Nintendo’s presence in Nurnberg therefore fits in perfectly with our strategy, which is aimed at extending the market.”

Ernst Kick, CEO of Spielwarenmesse, says Nintendo’s decision is longterm confirmation of the concept of the International Toy Fair: “The participation of such an innovative company makes it clear that we have touched the pulse of the times with our arrangement of the contents of the International Toy Fair and the special Toy Generations show in hall 9. The Nintendo commitment opens up an exceptional opportunity for the national and international toy trade to successfully develop new target groups with an attractive range of products. We assume that the trade will recognize and specifically seize this chance.”
