Following Nokia's launch of the Windows Phone 8-powered Lumia 920 (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/lumia-920-will-be-exclusive-to-ee/019320) and 820 (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/nokia-announces-lumia-820/019263) last week, The Verge (http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/10/3307889/instagram-windows-phone-app-nokia-video) claimed Instagram is heading to the platform, though VentureBeat (http://venturebeat.com/2012/09/10/instagram-windows-phone-no-go/) says that's not the case.
A source reckons Instagram could have been working on a version for WinPho but isn't anymore, with development put on ice following the Facebook buyout.

The takeover has already seen Instagram users almost triple, and at the time of the swoop Facebook said it would play to the app's strengths. (http://www.mobile-ent.biz/news/read/facebook-buys-instagram-for-1bn/017668)
