Rumour becomes reality - only yesterday, at the launch of Everything Everywhere's new brand EE (http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/everything-everywhere-introduces-ee-network-with-4g-lte-services-to-come-shortly/029146), the firm hinted that it would soon carry the iPhone 5 on its 4G LTE network.
It's just been confirmed by Apple.
The phone won't be exclusive to EE of course, other networks like Vodafone and O2 will carry it too, but 4G will be considerably faster than what 3G users currently experience.
EE says users on its 4G network can expect speeds of up to 21Mbps, compared to an average of 1.5Mbps on 3G. Quite the difference.
Four cities – London, Bristol, Cardiff and Birmingham – have been switched on to 4G in readiness for EE's customer launch. Its schedule looks to have 16 areas of the country connected to 4G by Christmas, with 2013 population coverage to reach 70 per cent, aiming for 98 per cent to be covered by 2014.
