SuccessHK (http://www.superufo.com/?aff_id=24) one of the worlds best importers of Consoles have today announced the sale of Firmware version 1.5 consoles of the new Blue, Pink and Silver colours, the price of them is $221 each.

I wouldnt think that the PSPs come shipped from the factory with v1.5 on but well they are selling version 1.5s, so for those of you who want to try Homebrew on the PSP this is an excellent time to get a brand new PSP that you can either keep at v1.5 or upgrade to the now preffered v2.71.

Buy Pink v1.5 PSP (http://www.superufo.com/product_html/SONY_PSP_SONY_PSP_Standard_Pack_Pink_Version_1_5__ Jap_.html?aff_id=24)

Buy Blue v1.5 PSP (http://www.superufo.com/product_html/SONY_PSP_SONY_PSP_Standard_Pack_Blue_Version_1_5__ Jap_.html?aff_id=24)

Buy Silver v1.5 PSP (http://www.superufo.com/product_html/SONY_PSP_SONY_PSP_Standard_Pack_Silver_Version_1_5 __Jap_.html?aff_id=24)

Oh my God! Firmware version 1.50 PSPs for sale at £112, with a choice for silver, pink and blue! That's so amazing, I'd love to get them all right now!

Whoa wait a minute here..

How can these possibly be 1.5 firmware if they were released WELL AFTER IT?

Is this an error with SuccessHK or what? These cannot be official 1.5 firmwares. There is no way in hell. 2.80 at LEAST.

Remember. If it looks too good to be true, chances are, it probably is. . .

They were probably downgraded or had their motherboards replaced if the firmwares that were on there originally were firmware version 2.81 and over.

January 15th, 2007, 21:00
Well I would highly doubt that SuccessHK would sit there and hand replace motherboards of all their old, Black PSP stock to make homebrew able Color PSPs. While it is a very smart idea, the likelihood of it is very small.

Also, seeing that all of those PSPs came out when TA-086 reigned supreme as THE new PSP mobo... I am sorry I don't buy it; Sony would not be that stupid. The fact that their Refurbish policy requires the newest firmware to be installed on all freshly refurbed units as well as their multiple motherboard revisions to thwart homebrew, it makes it highly unlikely that they would create new, colored PSPs with 1.5, TA-079 motherboards, just for us homebrewers.

Preffered 2.71 eh...Pretty sure that 3.02/3.03 OE's are better than any 2.71

that is really odd. i have done extensive research and it appears that the pink psp was released as 2.81

i dont understand how they can be selling these as 1.5

if they have been downgraded then Sony could screw them harder than Lik-Sang.
if the motherboard has been replaced then it must have been done by the cheapest labour source on earth as they would be losing money selling them at that price.

sorry, i just dont believe it.

I am certain that they are legit. Remember that Ookm himself admitted that the 2.81 ta-86 psp were "hard downgradeable". You see psp's like these on ebay. someone in hong kong has crafted a machine that can forcibly rewrite the flash on any psp. With this equipment, they can make a 1.50 out of any psp and then try to sell it on ebay for an inflated price. SuccessHK must either be using a similar method, or they have simply managed to get their hands on a few.

Don't complain about how they came to be 1.50's, just buy one and have fun.

Yeah, I was under the impression the the colored PSP's, mainly the 3 colors listed here come pre-installed with 2.81 firmware.

So if this is true they were not downgraded in the traditional sense.

I would be very curious to know how they were switched to 1.50. I would not want to buy a PSP that has been dissected and had mobo's replaced etc.

I wouldn't so much mind if it was soft-downed. But again, how would they do that with a 2.81?

I hope someone who knows more can look into this a little deeper. If I can afford it I may buy one to test it out.

baracki96
January 16th, 2007, 01:02
Perhaps these colored psps were like the first releases of colered psps amd successhk just held them back, knowing that in time they would be worth a small fortune. Oh, and happy MLK Jr.day.

That's right, just continue along as though I never spoke.

Seriously, it's a hard-downgrade. The same way Sony puts firmware on a system for the first time. They directly copy the firmware from one chip to another. I'd stake my favorite hat on it.

mnuhaily22
January 16th, 2007, 04:56
why would 2.71 be preffered???

pibs
January 16th, 2007, 05:41
they probably removed the faceplate/backplate and installed them on 1.5 japs? must of taken a long time to do that if they did.

I just got mine today, this is definitely legit. Just be careful not to freak out like me when you get it. For some reason when you press the screen brightness button, one of the settings is screen off (this was not an option on my previous psps). I thought the screen was broken, and I almost turned into the hulk.

If the screen doesn't work when you turn the thing on for the first time, just hit the screen brightness button and it'll work.

i have the same question but im fairly sure all upgrade eboots are the same

jamotto
February 21st, 2007, 04:42
You would be correct Buddy4point0, I took a look both updates and they seem identical.

I would like to add also that the psp seems to be legit. I bought the Silver psp and it arrived today.

I don't see any visible damage to the unit, it appears new. Opening up the umd door it has IC1003 printed on the board. I went ahead and successfully updated it to 3.10 OE A using the N.A. updates, with no trouble.

Not worth it. Some psp hackers found a loophole in all psp firmwares which allow them to be flashed to emulate version 1.50. Thats what im doing; im running 3.03 OE with a GAME150 folder to emu 1.50. I don't remember exactly what site it was, but its user friendly,

my local target has them at 2.80 so i would check there, pretty much every game store has them at 3.03 also so if u have gta it should be no porblem. if your target doesnt have them at 2.8, check online

I suggest buying a used PSP. It's cheaper and you can be 100% certain it will have the firmware you desire. If you do want a new one though, look for the guide that allows you to check what FM it is by the side of the box without opening it. :)

agree. they have been clearing the backstock of P!NK (music artist) PSPs. In my local Argos (central London) I got one for my wife for £99.97!!!!!! and it came with:
carry case, headphones, 32MB card, P!NK LE UMD, and some other stuff too.
it was 2.81. I upgraded to 3.03, down to 1.5, up to 3.40 OEM.

my wife is loving the recent dearth of puzzle games 7 wonders, Capcom Puzzle, PuzzleQuest etc.

for that price you would be crazy not to buy if you want a pink colour (which she did) as you get to walk out of shop with it and within 90mins you are running whatever FW you want. :P

Is the new psp worth getting?? decide for yourself! (http://www.gamespot.com/features/6173974/index.html?tag=topslot;title;1) this link may cease to work when gamespot next updates its cetral tab frameset, so just search gamespot for E3 info. or, go here (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3161034) I would really like to post this as a thread, but it won't let me; I suppose because I am a new member. I've used this ssite for years I'm glad to finally be a member. I think I'm the first to post about this new PSP and what it means for the homebrew community; I believe that the new PSP will be homebrew compatible and that it will provide a fantastic boost to the PSP-homebrew and PSP-mod communities. Power to the people enjoy! ~~~(extended information)(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable) (something fun)(http://www.amazon.com/Horatio-Hornblower-Collectors-Ioan-Gruffudd/dp/B000AYEIW2/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-0780911-7893268?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1184568971&sr=8-1) -SISKO have fun wid-it!

They're not spam.

then why hit the same message across 15+ threads even when it is not related to the topic?
that IS spam, any way you look at it.

Yea that is definitly spam. especially when you post that message in a thread that just said that.

Why?, because i think its worth talking about on multiple threads, it's not an ad, it's a catalyst for expanded discussiopn; nuff said -Sisko

read the following and let me know if your message fits the definition:

"As a noun, an (mostly irrelevant) message (frequently commercial advertising) cross-posted to many public fora simultaneously. As a verb, the act of posting such spam - often to increase one's post count. The term is derived, obscurely, from a popular Monty Python comedy sketch..."

maybe you are totally unaware of netiquette but this is a bad thing to do.
it is also worse because you have hardly any posts, it looks like you just posted loads of messages to increase your post count.

either way, ignorance is no defence.

you spammed.
don't do it again.

I bought one completely afraid I was waisting my money. I recieved it in a week and it was a legit 1.5. I noticed that the battery pack was black and not blue and it had no soft blue case. F-it, it runs my emulators perfectly. I also noticed the confirmation button at the main menu is the O instead of the X. Ehh. I didn't see evidence of tampering with the hardware, but I am not sure if it gets to you completely untouched. I took apart my old PSP at least four or five times to change the faceplate and buttons; I F-ing hate scratches, so I now what a "tampered with" PSP looks like.
