ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, document capture, and linguistic technologies and services, is today pleased to announce that ABBYY FineScanner, a mobile application designed to easily create high-quality electronic copies of written or printed documents using the Apple iPhone, will be available for a reduced price for a limited time only. Users can now download ABBYY FineScanner at the promotional price of $0.99/£0.69, reduced from $2.99/£1.99, via iTunes from today until Saturday 29th September 2012.

Powered by ABBYY’s image-improving technology for portable devices, FineScanner offers a range of settings to enhance the quality of scanned materials, allowing users to easily create one-page and multipage files that can be saved within the application or sent to online storage services and Facebook. FineScanner saves both time and effort when working with scanned documents and provides both manual and automatic settings such as brightness and contrast ratio, and also automatic crop frame detection, to achieve higher visual quality and better viewing of scans before saving.

FineScanner enables users to create multipage files out of scanned or uploaded images from the device’s gallery by using the “grouping” feature. To save time, a set of quality-improving functions can be manually defined for any image from the group and then applied to the rest with a single tap. Additionally, a sequence of images can be easily saved as a multipage PDF document or a series of JPEG files. The final results can be stored either in the iPhone photo gallery or within the application, and, if necessary, shared with colleagues, clients and friends. FineScanner also allows users to upload their files to Dropbox, Google Docs, and Evernote online services for effective archiving and back up. The files can also be sent via e-mail or printed directly from within the app (via Apple AirPrint). Furthermore, the final JPEG files are easy to post on Facebook.
