Yeh AVG free is great,

there is one called AVAST aswell. It is for corporate buisness's but you can get a home edition for free.

Yeah, I would definitely recommend AVG Free.

If you want that "extra" protection, you can have AVG & NOD32 co-existing on the same machine.

I suppose thats the windows "port" of clamAV. I've actually heard that it wasnt very good. dont know the details.

A good free Firewall is ZoneAlarm. I've been using it for 3+ years now and it works plenty good for me :D Maybe a second option for an Anti-Virus could be Avira AntiVir, but you can only use it for 6 months free (unless you format and clear your Registry :p).

I used to use Avira Antivir but the constant popup to buy the pro version was getting really annoying. I ve switched to ClamWin and have been using it for a couple of weeks now.
