AIOMI, the Movement for Videogame Culture, is proud to announce its partnership with MEGA, in order to enrich its collection and permanent exhibition in VIGAMUS - The Video Game Museum of Rome, which will open to the public Saturday, October 20th, 2012.
MEGA, which means “Museum of Electronic Games & Art”, is a German association born for the conservation, preservation, documentation and public availability of digital cultural assets in the area of entertainment, information & communications technology, as well as electronic games and digital art.
MEGA, which took part in the Retrogame area of this year’s gamescom in Cologne, the biggest world expo dedicated to the video game industry, will bring to VIGAMUS more than 50 historical game machines and over 100 games, which visitors will be able to admire in the permanent exhibition of the only Italian Video Game Museum.
During the grand opening of VIGAMUS, on October 20th and 21st, members of MEGA will take part to IVDC (<gp_link type="http" loc="//www.ivdconf.it">www.ivdconf.it</gp_link> (http://www.ivdconf.it/)), showing to the public T42: TENNIS FOR TWO, the extraordinary and perfectly working reconstruction of the first experiment, dated 1958, which would then give birth to the first video games.

“Insuring the accessibility and research of electronic games and art this alliance is a great milestone of European preservation efforts and an important step towards social acceptance of videogames and the understanding of electronic gaming history” replies Canan Hastik, chairwoman of MEGA and scientific researcher at Hochschule Darmstadt, Germany. “We are glad to have found like-minded partners who give us the opportunity of a permanent exhibition in the great city of Rome!”
