Voodoo Extreme has a feature up that's a wishlist for future sequels (http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/755/755782p1.html). They run down some great game franchises that have been off the board for a little while, and wonder out loud about the possibility of new installments. Besides the usual suspects for lists like this (StarCraft, TIE Fighter, Descent, Ultima), they touch on some cult favorites that are ... less likely to show up in modern gaming. From the article:

"Planescape Torment 2: The Poop -- Loved by many a forumgoer is Planescape Torment, a Dungeons & Dragons-themed RPG set in the other planes of existence. It was a dark game with evil undertones, but also lighthearted and funny at times. Just think Baldur's Gate with an M rating. The Scoop -- Odds of a sequel are equal to or greater than Elvis coming home on the mothership."
Any oldies you'd like to see back on modern systems? While I really like many of the ideas listed here, the LucasArts classics Grim Fandango and Maniac Mansion are the ones I'd most like to see rehashed.

- Zombies (ate my neighbours)
- Ren and stimpy
- Street fighter alpha series (come on there's got to be a fourth one...)
- Street fighter (3 was great, but it could be improved)
- DIABLO!!! (2 was awesome!)

Twisted Metal

Gex

Jersey Devil (I liked it)

Obscure (sh'tty story but fun traditional gameplay)

Parasite Eve (remake or sequel)

Sweet Home (remake?)

Metal Slug (you can never have too much Slug!)

Ristar (someone remember it)

1940s (you know, the up-scrolling shooter)... Actually, MORE UP-SCROLLING SHOOTERS. It doesn't have to be a sequel. Raid Over the River isn't enough.

Shadow of Rome, i loved that game.
Dead Rising, they could tidy it up.
DMC, but on PSP and 360.
Lots more Capcom games, but mainly SoR.
"Dear Capcom, first of all you rule. 2nd, can you please make a Shadow of Rome 2, on 360, with more modes, less stealth and tons more salvos. online and home multiplayer wouldn't go amiss either, ta!"

I would love to see a sequel to Zombies Ate My Neighbors, I heard there was one, but it wasnt very known or as good as the original....

Oh and maybe a remake of the original Toejam & Earl would be nice

:Edit:

It's called Ghoul Patrol.....and no it's not very good...not compared to the first one at least...

Yeah, I have to go with the cheap and obvious answers of Blizzard games like Starcraft and Diablo. I also wish LucasArts would make sequels for Star Wars Republic Commando and Star Wars Battlefront 2.
Though the last two aren't "classics". I don't really have any old games I'd like to see sequels for.

I so agree with Planescape Torment!!
It was such an awesome game.
that would be great if it had a sequal!
Best D&D game ever IMO
They should also make a Dynamite heady 2!
That was my fave game for Mega drive (genesis)

Hello:

Altough original games always change the way you play on, we all really love some games that deserves a decent sequel. Mine are:

Streets of Rage 4 or a Cooler name.
Battletoads (How does they will play in 3D?)
Bonk
Air Zonk
Golvellious (a Sega Master System RPG)
Shenmue (I want to see the finish, if any)
Jet Set Radio
Virtua Tennis(on Wii will be much fun to play)

The list could be longer, but I think you get the idea.

Yeah the Sequels I'd like to see would be:

Shenmue 3 (if ever)
Project Zero 3 ~Fatal Frame 3 for our American Brothers~
And anything that Working Designs could be Arsed to make.
Can they even make a bad Game to save there Lives?!
I don't think so, Working Designs made the best (or at least translated the very best), J-RPGs' of the '90's!!

I'd looooove to see another game in the zombie's series. I wouldn't want it to be 3D or anything like that. Probably would be better to make it on a hand held like GBA/DS/PSP. That would be great. Diablo too. :]
I'd love to see a sequal to:
RISTAR
Another Worms game for psp that isn't bad.
I'd love for them to keep making Mario sidescroller games. I really like the DS one.

Pretty much a lot of the old genesis gems.
