The Wii Laptop!

It's the Wii laptop! We spent the last few weeks (including much time spent over the holidays evading relatives) slaving over this bad boy and finally it's complete. Check out the features:

16:9 widescreen LCD, 7-inch diagonal.
Stereo sound
Gamecube controller port

Built-in short range Sensor Bar
Ports for using original Sensor Bar and A/V output jacks (for use on external display)
Built-in power supply and compartment for power cord
Dimensions: 8.5 x 7.7 x 2-inches

Starting next Tuesday we'll be doing a multi-part How-To with detailed instructions for building your own Wii laptop, as well as loads of photos of the construction process.

That does look really nice, but looks like an amazing amount of work.

I'm curious if the "superfluous" vent holes will really help keep the thing from overheating. From what I've heard, there are actually two sets of vents on the Wii (I haven't examined mine closely enough to figure it out). One vent to allow air into the console, and another completely separate vent to allow the hot air out of the console.

Neat idea, though, and actually very practical.

Looks extremely difficult, trying to mod a Wii to make this is a massively easy way to break it...but when the instructions come out, I wouldnt mind looking over them :)

Without a GC memory card port, you can't play GC games well.

That looks like the one made by Ben Heck. He has tons of awesome mods and customized portables. there's actually a contest on his forums going on right now for building the best portable system; should be coming to a close soon.
