Hello everyone,
I was wondering what the risk is of contracting DSBrick on my DS, mainly because I do not want to flash my DS in anyway.
Thanks,
X

Well....If you get your stuff from here I doubt you will get that.

I figured that, but would an antivirus program like avast pick up the brick? If not, does the virus usually come in the form of r0mloader.zip or taihen.zip?

r0mloader is more common according to www.darkfader.net, but neither of them have ever been seen in any major homebrew program. There's always the chance that someone will still include it in their program, but it's highly unlikely.

you can use dslazy to check if the file might brick your ds.
i would suggest flashing.

there are also risks to flashing, although it can protect you from getting bricked, there is a chance to get brick attempting to flash it. even though the chances of bricking while flashing isn't very high, it is still possible, making spend time and money to find someone to can unbrick your ds. unless you wanna spend another 150bucks on another ds. just download from known sources such as here (DCEmu), MaxConsole, and other DSScene sites/forums.
