I'm guessing that the object of this game is to see how long you can survive, and NOT how many bears you can kill with the gun. Eventually more and more bears will appear at once, and you'll start becoming surrounded.

I managed to survive long enough to cause the game to slow down to a crawl, and then to crash. =/
