Hi All,

Here is another version (and i hope the last one) of PSP2600 the Atari 2600
emulator running on PSP.

What's new in this version ? Mainly bug fix :

- Bug fix in the render mode Max and x1.25
- New default mapping for the keyboard in order to
use the analog/digital swap feature.

It has been developped on linux for Firmware 1.5 and i hope it works also for 2.x
using the great eloader (0.99x) from http://www.noobz.eu/.

How to use it ? Everything is in the README.txt file.

Sources are included, and this package is under the GNU public license,
read COPYING.txt file for more information about it.

*** Many thanks to Poem58, and all Atari 2600's fans for their help and support ! ***

Enjoy,

Zx.

I was just jumping for joy in between playing Asteroids and Space Invaders in visually-perfect glory on your 1.0.2 version, and I suddenly saw *another* update. Well zx, you have well and truly made a perfect Atari 2600 emulator. The humble 2600 was the first games console I ever owner back when I was but a young whippersnapper, and it brings me great joy to be able to play all the old favourites in as-close-to-perfect a way possible. It almost brings tears to my eyes! Thank you so much for a wonderful job on this emulator, and I can only imagine and hope that the next project you decide to tackle will will bring us even more joy!

Three cheers for zx-81!

The updates are so fast! I just got version 2 in this afternoon now this evening version 3! I can't wait to try the new one.....

I can't imagine what else could be fixed now!
(one person suggested RF interference like it wasn't hooked up with a good connection...while that would be neat to accomplish...we didn't like it on the original system so I doubt we'd like it now!)

Zx, you touch it it becomes golden. I have thanked you many times for this and still I thank you. Your efforts will be appreciated as long as the PSP is alive and functioning...this will be a permanent fixture...Now I can take that 32MB memstick that shipped with the PSP and turn it into a permanent 2600 card (along with what fits for 5200,7800 etc....)

Only when the buttons on my PSP are destroyed or the thing wont tun on...no parts are available to repair...and no PSP's remain purchasable will this emulator cease to be used.....

I can't wait to see what you decide to tackle next....you are a coding badass!

Thank you ZX yet again. :) These games were great when it was 1977 and playing Space Invaders on my 27" Magnavox Console TV in the living room and they're still great today. There weren't many kids that got a 2600 for Christmas that first production year but I was one of them and I never stopped playing. I still own my original(and my original TI99 4/a with monitor and tons of goodies)! :)

Thank you for a vastly improved 2600 emulator for the PSP. Your efforts are appreciated by a lot of people. Portable 2600 goodness is alive on my PSP and GP2X and I wouldn't have it any other way!

it would be so sweet if it had ad hoc mode like the nester emulators do, everything should have it, not just this. does this have the number pad emulated too?

the paddle support should have different speeds depending on how far you push the joystic, and it doesn't work too well with Night driver.

Paddle support does have speed settings right in the settings meni....take another look and you'll see it's set on 2 by default..you can set it to 3...but don't expect great results from paddle controls without a paddle.

Kaboom! is one of my favorites...and aside from an Actual Atari...only stella with your mouse is gonna even come close....

As for ad-hoc....I don't even know someone with a PSP so I'd have no use for it....I think it'd be cool...but ZX was just porting Stella for us so Ad-Hoc would probably be a massive undertaking....

I may be wrong.....
I am completely satisfied with it as is....the worst I can say now is it occasionally locks up the PSP but that may be limited to my firmware and never from an in game situation...who knows why....at this point..who cares

Hi Zx,

Sorry I posted this on your site, I should have posted it here as per your suggestion.

Congrats on another great and timely update. I notice the screen wrap around problem has now been addressed. Good stuff! I hope this isn't the last update however.

I notice that the graphics are still 'blurry' (for lack of a better word) in 1.25x and full screen mode. In normal mode they are nice and crisp. You only need to look at the score in many games to notice that the numbers are blurred.

I know it's already been reported, but it would also be great if you could use HOME while playing a game to exit to the XMB.

Pitfall II still isn't playable as I'm also sure your aware.

Some more suggestions: A different background image on the main menu, to differentiate the main menu from the rom selection and settings menus, just to make them stand out from each other would be great.

The ability to auto save ur game state and have this auto saved state start automaticallywhen reloading the game (for some games). This would make the game like that in the arcade in that the high scores would appear to be saved. This would create longevity in playing most of these games, where the sole purpose is tp achieve a high score.

Anyway, these things aside, I feel your Atari2600 is now the best available. If you were to tackle these issues the emulator would go from being very good, to absolutely awesome. We all appreciate your hard work.

Cheers

NICE fix.

Ok, so yea the graphics ARE kinda blurry in fullscreen mode I agree...

the screen is fixed pretty well now..

COULD YOU PLEASE hook it up so that the D-PAD and the Analog work at the same time? for this ~AND~ PSPColem PLEASE.

And by the way, I used to talk to Aenae (or however you spell it) on aim all the time, she's not exactly what I would consider a "nice" or well adjusted person. So ZX, if she gave you the go ahead to update her work, I say DO IT. no reason why you shouldnt if that's the case, and I've been comparing this release to hers, and

Yea this looks WAY better.

but it needs to have the simultaneous analog and D-pad (why would you make it so that one works and the other doesn't?)

OH yea, and HOME key support..... for everything

I want to see AdHoc Mode for an Atari Emu. I will play Schreckenstein in the near future on the PSP. Its my favorite game on the 800XL Atari.

What can I say, apart from FANTASTIC !! who would have thought that you could play the same games 20 years later in the palm of your hand.

Within 5 minutes it seems like you've been using PSP2600 for years. Even the save states work a treat. Cheers for a great emulator.
