Barnes & Noble’s NOOK Simple Touch range is now available for UK consumers to buy from retailers and online.
Last month the US bookseller announced that it was entering the UK e-book market with four NOOK devices (http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/barnes-noble-s-nook-simple-touch-glowlight-an-hd-tablets-launch-in-uk-today/029245).
Now the NOOK Simple Touch and the NOOK Simple Touch GlowLight are both available to buy, with the NOOK HD and NOOK HD+ tablets remaining available for pre-order with deliveries set for November 22nd.
The NOOK Simple Touch costs £79 and comes with 2GB of built in memory. The GlowLight version will set you back £109 and enables the users to read in low light situations.
The NOOK HD is set to be a direct competitor of tablets such as Amazon’s newly released Kindle Fire HD and Google’s Nexus 7. It beats both on price, costing £159 for the 8GB model and £189 for the 16GB model. The HD+ version starts at £229 and has a 9-inch screen.
"The NOOK brand was created for people who love literature and reading, which is why the UK was a natural place for us to begin our international expansion,” said Jamie Iannone, president of NOOK media.
"Our extensive content catalogue, intuitive shopping and reading experience, and breakthrough discovery tools like NOOK Channels are a perfect fit for UK digital book readers."
