Black Ops 2's first week sales have only previously been bettered by 2010's original Call of Duty: Black Ops, last year's Modern Warfare 3 and 2009's Modern Warfare 2, although it should be noted that each of those titles launched on more than three platforms.
Black Ops 2 released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC last Tuesday, while a Wii U (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/nintendo-wii-u/games/12079/wii-u/) version will launch alongside Nintendo's new console on November 30.
The author of MCV's Call of Duty piece confirmed to us this afternoon that the trade mag's figures take into account sales of the Wii version of Modern Warfare 3, which released on the same day as the 360, PS3 and PC editions last November. However, the Wii version no doubt accounted for a relatively small percentage of MW3's launch week sales.
