New Release of the Custom Firmware from Dark ALex (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/search.php?searchid=1008239) which supports the Latest Sony 3.10 Firmware, Region Free UMD Movie Playback, Most Homebrew and also the Full Speed Playstation Emulator (Compatibility List) (http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=47123)

Since it is the first release, it can only be installed as a full installation.

Instructions are as always, oeupdmaker to create the dxar from 150.PBP and 310.PBP, and 310oeflasher
to install the firmware from the dxar previously generated.

Although, it is obvious, i'll say it in capital letters: DO NOT USE ANY DXAR FROM 3.03 OE, USE THE ONE
GENERATED WITH THE INCLUDED OEUPDMAKER AND SONY 1.50 AND 3.10 FIRMWARES UPDATES.

Checksums of the generated dxar:

CRC32: 58D45EDF
MD5: BF1862F73FDF4B7458279ACFF4F6DAA2
SHA1: 683AD0ABA48A7968F3172A5AB2E41CF95A476801
SHA256: 2107EC67CE7434E250FF71AF302430B3586AA4519F3405D435 94414B3C940B74

Note 1: the installer will disable all plugins to avoid incompatibilities when booting. You can
enable them again in the recovery menu.

Note 2: the plugin to load 3.02 pops won't work anymore in 3.10 OE, due to some changes in pops
modules structure (meaudio fused with popsman, idcanager/idmanager behaviour slightly changed).
A new plugin for 3.10 could be written next week.

Changes in 3.10 OE-A:

- Change from 3.03 firmware to 3.10

- 4th level of brightness (aka battery eater) can now be selected also without ac adaptor.

- Changes in hen core:

* Static user elf's can now be executed in the 3.10 kernel. (this includes snes user version
between other programs)

* Tyranid's patch (added in 3.03 OE-C) consequences was not explained very well in the changelog of 3.03 OE-C:

- For programmers: it allows kernel modules to have user imports, making kernel programming
in 3.03/3.10 less strict.

- For users: plugins and applications that worked in 2.71 SE, but not in OE, *may* now work in 3.03OE-C
and 3.10 OE-A.

Il be updating to this very shortly. I haven't been converting any ps1 games after 3.03OE-B. So i might start doing so just to have them updated. I never used the "load 3.02OE pops" plugin, so i can do without that. I might get the updated version however of it just to have it. Great work Dark-Alex!

Although i realise you will never read this, THANKS Dark_AleX :)

EDIT : ooh a new useless icon under network called PlayStation Spot, for some reason, when i go to this new icon, i get the blue corrupt data screen, but when i turn my PSP back on the settings are still fine, strange.

Incredible work Dark_AleX. Way to keep the legend alive. The 3.10 update by SONY was an obvious bitch slap against the homebrew scene and to have a 3.10 OE-A already certainly shows SONY that there is no putting a lid on the PSP homebrew scene.

An infinite amount of thanks goes out to everyone involved in this release.

I wasn't in 1.50 kernel and i didn't brick my PSP, strange.

I have found out a few things, after updating, the web browser will give a corrupt settings message if you don't restore default settings.

Also the wiggly line in the visualiser looks slightly different, and now changes colour, and in PS1 games, a few new things have been added, they are zoom, brigtness settings, volume settings, and the options for controller port 1 or 2.

Cokemusic, you can upgrade to version 3.03 and downgrade to 1.50 from there. Then you can update to custom firmware 3.10 OE-A. However you will need an unpatched UMD of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories to downgrade.

Is it probable that Alex will release a non-Umd downgrader for any 3.0 + firmwares . it apears he's always up for a challenge.

I was messing with stuff and Was wonderign if somoen could make a backup of Flash0 and email to [email protected] did you erase your flash 0 or something? If you did you can't just flash someone else's and expect it to work. Can you even get into the recovery menu (i doubt you can) then you could just downgrade but you can't just write someone else's flash 0.

That's only if another kernel access exploit is found. At the moment, there's no GTA-less downgrader.

3.10 popstation... changelog and PAL Compatibility

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The new version of the official emulator plays pretty the same on the few games that i throwed in... and it still doesn't play Brave Fencer Musashi
But there is something new.

1) Added gamma boost, two levels
2) Added volume boost, two levels
3) Added another zoom mode!
4) Added joypad port selection... maybe they are going to release metal gears solid

Please report if you find something new.

New findings on PAL games untouched (no fixes, i.e. PALadin):

Alundra 2 PAL: Runs Perfect (the screen looks like off-centered, you can adjust it inside the menu options)
Sheed Dog 'n Wolf: Runs perfect
Parappa the rapper: No glitches, music de-synced, unplayable
Resident evil 3: No more glitches on fire, runs perfect until now
Final Fantasy VIII: Some texture problems, still crashes.

I think I'll be waiting until the XMB Custom Icon Packager is updated to work with 3.10. I love my custom XMB, and this new firmware doesn't offer any amazing improvements over 3.03 OE-C. Nevertheless, this is great work. Thanks Dark_Alex!

ok you upgraded to the SONY 3.10 right? ok. as of now you cannot run homebrew on your PSP. this includes your ripped ps1 games. you can only hope for a downgrader to downgrade (lower your version) your PSP. it is very important to not upgrade your PSP to SONY updates if you want homebrew capabilities. sorry to put it so bluntly.:(

if you are in 3.10 and not 3.10oe-a then your screwed for now - till they come out with a downgrader - but if you have 3.10oe-a then rip your games with alcohol 120 (or a proggy that can make images) and use ice tea to convert images to eboots

KillaDrilla, if you've just bought your PSP recently, take it back to the shop for a refund asap.

Hopefully you'll get a 3.03 or lower as a replacement. (Say its got a load of dead pixels or something.)

Otherwise you're goosed.

Alway read around before doing anything. To just upgrade without doing you're homework first is just stupid!!!

Good luck.

ok you upgraded to the SONY 3.10 right? ok. as of now you cannot run homebrew on your PSP. this includes your ripped ps1 games. you can only hope for a downgrader to downgrade (lower your version) your PSP. it is very important to not upgrade your PSP to SONY updates if you want homebrew capabilities. sorry to put it so bluntly.:(

yes i got the official Sony upgrade...but still confused...what firmware do u need initially to upgrade to 3.10OE??? If and when 3.10 downgrader comes out, what would I do??

do NOT flash your topmenu_plugin.rco with 3.10.... i bricked

Which is why you backup stuff before you flash anything. And no, it's not bricked, it just freezes only showing the clock and battery on the xmb, then shuts down. So all you do is access flash0 through recovery, replace topmenu_plugin.rco with the original, and it's fixed.

That is a firmware issue. It isn't Dark_Alex's issue.

If you want a wallpaper that will show straight away, then you flash it using x-flash.

txiong09, if you get GTA:LCS, you need to make sure it is unpatched or you can't downgrade. Unpatched UMDs will have the serial number ULES 000-151# and have the 2.00 update on it, patched ones are ULES 000-151#2 and have the 2.60 update. The serial number can be found on the disk itself.

Hmm, I'm torn on whether or not to upgrade. My resons are mainly that I manually did that dummy-jpn0 to free up flash0 space, and I have heard of people bricking due to corrupt Flash0s, even on custom firmwares. Also, I currently have a cintro that is running from the memory stick, a custom XMB ( icons and font), and the Hack-slash gameboot. I really don't want to give that up, or have to re-apply it every time I upgrade a custom firmware ( which is why I'm on 3.03oe-b). Any responses would be appreciated.

Oh and keep an eye out on the Noobz website for the cleaner, it shouldn't be long now.

Well, I have upgraded and all went well. I've been playing around with 3.10 OE-A for a while now and its great.

Why are a lot of people having to set default settings for the web browser to work? Mine worked fine without having to do that. I will be upgrading my other PSP shortly.

So many people care greatly for custom icons and stuff but that doesn't really interest me. I like having a "sleeper" PSP. It looks stock so to speak but its really tricked out under the hood.

Also, there are lots of neat added features to the pops PSX emu that make it well worth the upgrade if you do a lot of PSX gaming.

Perhaps if people flashed files that they did not revert before updating to 3.10 OE-A? I had the same issue and its the only thing I can think of. I flashed 01-12.bmp, topmenu_plugin.rco and a new font; which I restored only the .rco and font before updating, I forgot to restore the backgrounds...

Just a question to you. Are you using Custom_Firmware_Extender_1.2, which lets you access the USB without clicking the "USB Connection" in the XMB? If you are, that's why the remaining size doesn't get updated. If you aren't using that, then I have no idea what happened.

Yea, np. It's a common issue with this 3.10 OE, many people have the same thing happen.

It's just like going from 3.03 OE to 3.10 OE, you gotta redo some things, like font, custom xmb icons(which topmenu_plugin.rco, doesn't work...yet) At least it's something simple, not much to reset, just date/time, nickname.

Nono. Nonononono. You can go straight from where you are to 3.10 OE-A. Just run the update maker, and then the installer, as in the instructions.

My experience with FFVIII is weird. On 3.03 OE-C it seemed to work really well. No crashes, scan, fire etc worked fine. However after I upgraded magic seems to crash it and there are strange graphical glitches. For example on the world map, the collar on Squall is bright yellow where it should be white and the uppermost sky is yellow too!

Anyone else experience this? Does anyone think Sony will release a nice new FF- friendly firmware when they decide to release it on the PS3 shop?

Hrm!

mmmhh,
bug found,
when i delete things from the game150 folder on the psp, they´re not really deleted, I have to do it on the computer or the memory is not liberated.
happened to me since i had 3.03oe-c, i tried to delete an iso game and it was still saying memroy 11mb, when i had erased like 500mb
then i tried on the computer but i couldn't find the file so i used the format memory stick option on my psp and went back to normal
weird though

maybe if you empty the recycle bin helps, somehow...?!?

Why did Sony put the controller select in this firmware? Does this mean wireless multiplayer soon?

Ooh, on the PS1 emu? That would be COOL. Not that I have anyone to play WITH (I don't know anyone else with a PSP) but it'd still be cool.

I think upgrading will readd that font back. But I don't think it will brick if you try to upgrade. If you are real scared of it bricking, I'd say add it back in, just to be safe.

ok so i have a 1.5 from the usa launch. i use devhook on my psp now. and i want to play ps1 games. now i need to know. to play homebrew on this do i need gta to play homebrew. i sold my copy a while back. and i dont want to install this firmware and end up not having hombrew.

Shrygue
February 5th, 2007, 19:52
Custom firmware 3.10 OE-A (a mix of 1.50 and 3.10 mix as one) supports homebrew without GTA, you just load it from the memory stick in the GAME menu, along with PS1 games. It's by far better than 1.50 as it also has a recovery menu if you semi-brick.

It's just Sony's official firmware version 3.10 (just plain 3.10, not mixed with 1.50) that won't let you use hombrew, even via GTA they won't work as the save data exploit is patched up.

Question: What's that "Dynamic Normalizer" ???

it "normalizes" the dynamic of sounds.

supposed to be something to level all your music files, not hurting ur ears in case the volume changes from low to very high from one song to another. Not that useful if you already normalize ur playlists beforehand, but...

HTH

;) no prob. Upgrade is fine; but be prepared to some issues with your own custom icons (if u used to use any) because they don't work with 3.10 OE. They don't brick (because you can use recovery menu to reflash the originals) but may make your PSP look like it's bricked, aka black screen only and the like.

Just my 2c

It DOES NOT play UMD movies region-free. My Region 2 FFVII does not play on my Region 4 PSP.

However, is there a setting somewhere you need to select for it to work or something?

Shrygue
February 5th, 2007, 22:04
You need to go the recovery menu and enable the Free UMD Region setting under Configuration.

yes, the feature is _known_ not to work, as it didn't in 3.03 afaik, and there's nothing u can do atm, as only Him can fix this.

I got a blue screen the first time I entered the system settings in 3.10 OE-A, but it got fixed when I pressed circle to restore the default settings. Just press circle many times the second you get the error screen and see if that works.

The reason a lot of people are getting this error is due to the change in the internet browser settings. Sony added a new option to "Conserve Memory" when using the browser. Since the old settings file didn't have that option, when 3.10 loads the settings it crashes. Resetting to default settings fixes the problem.

I upgraded to 3.10 OE-A (The extra PSone Functions rock, and the brightness level), but one of my games is spazzing out.

I get the 800148etc error when I try and run Splinter Cell essentials... Like I've popped the UMD or something?

It's not an ISO, it's the EU UMD and it get's past the Ubisoft logo, then back to the XMB. Any ideas? Anyone else has this prob?

Worked fine on 3.03 OE-C.

Cheers :)
