What games are you ashamed to say you've never played?

Playing games can take a long time, like 70 hours for some. Worse case scenario, they never end. So you see, video game critics (read: journalists) are faced with a problem; if they're suppose to critique games as Roger Ebert does movies, shouldn't they play every single AAA title all the way through to do their job to the fullest?

Joystiq's own ninja columnist Kyle Orland examines the "limited time to complete so many games" dilemma in speaking with a variety of industry journalists. From his GameDaily column: "Many journalists that responded to my inquiry found they just didn't have the time to really get into certain epic games. CMP's Simon Carless lamented that he'd probably 'have to take a holiday' to put aside his current pile of games and finally get through Twilight Princess. GameDaily's Robert Workman is waiting for "a lazy summer day" to finally give Oblivion another go."

Yours truly? I've only played 20 minutes of Gears, probably won't play past the water temple in Twilight Princess, and have God of War (the first one!) still sitting in a box waiting to be played all because of fleeting time. Someone needs to tar and feather me. So what games are you ashamed to say you've never played or completed?

Final Fantasy VII - started to play it, got fed up with it's ridiculous characters, repetetive dull battles and monotonous overindulgent storyline. I know it's a sacred calf around these parts, but I find many games of it's ilk equally bloated and unplayable. I fully appreciare the amount of work that has gone into producing it, but it leaves me cold - I find very little game to actually play in these titles.

I always complete the MGS games though, i buy em, sit down, play em till i complete em.

I've never played a Resident Evil game. I've only played Castlevania: SOTN, Aria Of Sorrow, and Harmony of Dissonance. I still have my FFXII Pre-Order reciept, for the special edition too... doubt I'll ever pick that up lol. Let's see.... never had an xbox or 360 so all the games for those systems I haven't played. Not a fan of Zelda so rule those out. Devil May Cry = never played, so on and so fourth...

I've never finished 90% of my PS2 games due to the modchip... Trust me, it's not easy to play ONE out of 150 games when you have all of them...
But the one I regret mostly is Grandia II (haven't finished) because my save was erased due to the ULTIMATE memory card of PS2 (Yes, it was 100% OFFICIAL) and I was really disappointed to play it again till there, Star Ocean - Till The End Of Time (never finished for the very same reason...) and Grandia III (haven't played because it never set its foot in Europe and it was not easy for me to find on the web. When I found it, the DVD would skip the cutscenes at first, and then the ENTIRE game froze...):(

I'll buy those games original this time, and I'll play them on my PS3 one last time to finish them, in order to be sure they won't be erased again with the HDD.

Tales Series, never got into the series though played many of the games, but now with eternia sparking my interest, that will be over.
I bought ToE last week, still havent touched it.

Xenosaga Episode II, played it, finished 1st disc, never started second disc.

Resident Evil Remake on GCN, played it 40 percent done, never played it again.

La Pucelle Tactics, started over like 4 times, farthest i gotten was chapter 4.

ohh man have ninja gaiden black for the xbox for over a year and only played it the first day i bought it but the game is hot it's just most of the time i only be playing online or don't have to sit to finish it. Zelda Majora's Mask is a game that I love but only got up to the pirates section of the game and lost the game save but was my fault for leaving the game unplayed for a while. Grand Theft Auto Vice City for the xbox-lost game save. Banjo Kazooie got up to Rusty Bucket Bay with perfect and lost game save. Zelda Link to the Past- just been busy to settle down and beat it.

I know this is a thread for games that you're ashamed for NEVER played, but I want to be the first to admit that I actually enjoyed playing E.T. for the Atari 2600.

I am ashamed that Zombies Ate My Neighbors has never been re-released to other systems

I am ashamed that I owned the original 5.25" floppy diskette for the Apple IIe of Championship Lode Runner, and never mastered all 50 levels (I seem to rember if you mastered it without using the original level editor, you were given a special code, and from there you won some sorta prize).

I am ashamed to admit that after reading a online retro magazine, I decided to play, and enjoy Cabbage Patch Kids for ColecoVision (via emulation)

I am ashamed to admit that even though I liked all reincarnations of Pitfall, I never understood the concept for the original 2600.

I am ashamed to admit that I owned the original Robot for NES, and 1 of the 2 games that were made for it.

I enjoyed playing Illusion of Gaia for SNES, and got the cool free t-shirt when I first bought it, but I had no idea what I was doing in that game.

I am really ashamed to admit that I LOVED Gorf for Colecovision, but never "mastered" it, even on the easiest level.

I am ashamed to admit that I spent over $400 to buy the GP32 (nice bag, several memory cards, batter charger, screen, etc), just so I could play Atari 2600 at work, then later learned that the emulators were rather weak. I am equally ashamed to say I upgraded to the GP2X for the same reason, and love Stella.

I am ashamed to admit I just paid $100 to get the Nokia N-Gage from eBay (and a memory card, and tons of cool extras), just so I could play a Java version of Lode Runner I never heard of (Lode Runner is a old family favorite). I hate cell phones, and I only bought this, so I could play games

In TES3 Morrowinds GOTY edition for xbox, i have done pretty much everything (guilds, warewolves, tribunal) EXCEPT THE MAIN QUEST! Its sort of funny... and i have a hella strong battle mage... I just am too lazy to beat the other quests.

I'm really ashamed of not being able to play the import game of Bokura no Taiyou 3 *boktai 3 from japan* cause it's still hard to find a good online store to buy it that has it in stock. Shenmue 2.

Completed Shenmue 1 after ages of playing it straight. Got Shenmue 2 for Xmas when it came out. Played it for about 30 minutes and couldn't face the long slog ahead.

Need to try again though as it has been a few years for me to get over Shenmue 1!!!

I am ashamed to say I have not played any PS2 games, and I barely touched most Mario and Zelda games (except for the Super NES game and party games in that series) after the NES became obsolete. I have also not played far into any Star Fox game and after Final Fantasy 7 I became bored with the series of extremely linear RPGs and started playing PC based RPGs instead.

However, I am not ashamed to say that I have been mostly drawn to some rather decent games that seemed to not be noticed by most gamers. Just because a game has a lot of hype behind it and attracts a lot of attention does not mean it is better, and I am usually disappointed by heavily advertised games.
