Microsoft responds to Watchdog's report

In an official statement issued to GamesIndustry.biz (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=22776), Microsoft said that the "vast majority" of Xbox 360 owners have had an "outstanding experience" with the console.

But the platform holder went on to concede: "That being said, we have received a few isolated reports of consoles not working as expected.

"It's important to note that there is no systemic issue with Xbox 360 - each incident is unique and these customer inquiries are being handled on a case-by-case basis."

Microsoft has not revealed details of how many Xbox 360 units have been found faulty, but did state that the return rate is "significantly lower" than the CE industry average of between 3 and 5 per cent.

hope the new models in 2007 with the 65nm chip sets don't fail as i might just get the xbox 360 rather then the expensive ps3 as ya could get just about two xbox 360's for the price of one ps3.

A bit worrying though. I'll just have to wait another 8 months now and see what happens.

Nicky Campbell's over acting was quite funny at the end when he looks at the shooting footage, and the heightened drama when they show the 'ring of death' - Dum, dum, dum!
