Sega Racing Studio head designer Guy Wilday has branded PlayStation 3's motion-sensitive capabilities, offered by the new SixAxis pad, as rubbish - arguing that Dual Shock's rumble feature is far more appealing.

When asked by PSM3 if the next-gen renovation of Sega Rally, set to roll out in November, would support tilt control, Wilday replied: "Yes, tilt control will be included - it's not difficult to do. Fundamentally, though, the whole tilt control thing is rubbish... it's no compensation for rumble".

We would ask you what your thoughts are, but we're pretty sure we already know. Everyone's a bit disappointed about losing the rumble feature, and Sony can't be unaware of how welcome a new, rumble-capable SixAxis would be. GamesRadar will not be held accountable for anyone passing out while holding their breath for that to happen, however.

Six-Axis owns the Wiimote any day. But he does have a point, its no compensation to rumble. But to be honest, I'd rather have both.

wish sony would just put rumble to their sixaxis.......stop being cheap. It'll only HELP them in the long run, since it will appeal to more people.

They aren't being cheap, they were sued for the rumble and the court ordered them to pay royalties if they use it. Its better business sense to throw it out than pay millions of dollars in royalties.

Since I gurantee the implementation would also include royalties for using the software libraries that handle the rumble in games. Thats a massive amount of money to pay for something everytime a game/controller/both are sold that use rumble.

the sixaxis is nothing more than an attempt to copy nintendo just like sony has been doing for years. forst the joystick, then rumble, then wireless, then motion sensing. sure others might have beat nintendo to one of those features but no one did successfully until nintendo. as soon as nintendo showed that those things could be very succesful in a game sony was the first to copy and guess what. they did it again. only they didnt do it very well. tilt is a far cry from the wii-motes total motion detection but it sure didnt stop sony from trying to steal nintendo's thunder...

Good to see various form of drivel post.

The six axis is NOT a substitute for the rumble, it is a different concept from the rumble.

It is nto a waste either, when you play RfoM you will understand why - you dont have to press button combinatioin if your character is in fire...Just shake the pad! How easy is that.

For those of you spreading the rumours about how sony dont wanna pay etc...the fact is we will never know the inside story but statting rumours as fact in a debate sucks period.

I also find it as an irony that sega cheif or staff can say crap like this....what ever happened to the dream cast?

Well it is true that Sony was sued for using rumble in the Dual Shock. However another company introduced rumble into a SixAxis controller in a way that does not use any current held patent's techniques.

Whether Sony goes forward with this company's idea, is not yet known, even though they stated no plans as of yet. It was on the boards a few weeks ago.

But everything else you said was spot on.

Oh dear, yet another dribbling fanboi. You really should do some research on your facts.
