A police raid on the man who sold a Durango test kit on eBay was not instigated by Microsoft, the platform holder has claimed.
Aussie hacker SuperDaE was last week the subject of a police raid (http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/xbox-durango-leaker-claims-police-raid/0111063) following his acquisition and subsequent sale of a genuine Durango (the code name for the Next Xbox) test kit. Microsoft was assumed to be the aggressor. However, the company has issued a statement denying such claims.
"Microsoft did not initiate this FBI investigation with this individual, as has been asserted in some of the articles in the media,” it said. “We take security very seriously and have no evidence of any compromise of our corporate network. We have no further comment on this matter."

It says that SuperDaE “was met by a Microsoft intellectual property official in recent months”. It also claims that he obtained the Durango test kit by hacking into the Xbox Developer Program website, creating a fake account and ordering the unit.
Furthermore, the search warrant – which has been verified by Australian police – names Microsoft specifically.
