I suppose you could go onto a P2P network and download it.

Or you could just use The GIMP.

As was suggested, GIMP is probably the most powerful free tool for image manipulation. It's as powerful as photoshop as far as I know. You might also be able to get a deal on photoshop through and educational institute if you attend one.

i'm at school in 4th year (i'm 15) but i never took art...also it is illegal to download it free. why is it only iso sharing that is frowned upon, but not anything else??? (not that i condone iso sharing that is)

student version is great... £180 for the complete CS2 Premium

im not sure the exact conditions, but if you intend to really really use it then it is definatley worth considering.
its a single computer/user licence and you must prove your status .

why do you want a photo editing tool anyway..???

not for anything terribly serious, just to spruce up pics, try making sigs, just basic stuff really, it's not for school. aw shit, stupid dial up went off and now i have to restart the bast!

best not to bother for now then...

...however, the student edition counts as a full retail version...so all updates fall under the upgrade category for premium users...saving alot of money for you, as the total cost of student CS2 and update to CS3[when it arives] will be cheaper than a full package of CS3 .

something to remember later in your education, if you wish to follow such a path.

as a side note: look around for education deals there are huge savings to be made everywhere

cool, that's very useful for future reference. btw GIMP is finally done, over an hour after my first attempt. with broadband it would have taken, ohhhhh, roughly 1 minute. DIAL UP SUCKS!!!!!

download a LEGAL trial version, then find somewhere with a serial or keygen - I think they have a trial option?

yeah, legal is the way forward. i've had my winace free trial and am now overdue for evaluation by 200 days lol!

Despite how that might seem, it's quite illegal. Similar to how lockpick tools are legal, walking into an unlocked house might be legal (depending on your locale) but using the lockpick tools to make the house unlocked is illegal.

The forum treats ALL warez the same. The two of them got warnings for this.

Also, I'd reccomend getting 7-zip to replace winace. It is more compatible in terms of what it can open, faster, gets better compression with it's 7z format, and is totally free.

yeh GIMP paint.net or google picasa.

GIMP is deffinatly the best free editor

and i find winrar is the best compressor

7z gets higher compression levels than winrar does. by a few percent. The 7zip program can also open rar files perfectly fine. About the only thing I havn't been able to open with it is lzh.

I think winrar has better compression i compressed a 6gigbite file into 2 gig thats good compression...

February 22nd, 2007, 02:06
http://7-zip.org/ look at the compairisons. WinRAR has good compression, of course, but 7-zip's is better ;). Maybe you could have gotten that 6 gig file to 1.8 with 7-zip.

I really just recommend the GIMP. You can do pretty much everything you could possibly want with it.

It is slightly different from photoshop and will take a while to get used to it... but once you use it you'll start to love it.

Incorrect I'm afraid.

Student editions cannot be upgraded to later editions. Check the small print on Adobe's website. You could be in for a nasty(ish) surprise.

That said, it's probably cheaper to buy the student editions than the upgrades anyway...

i got the GIMP. it's alright, but i'll need practice with it before i can really do stuff, so far it's just been me getting used to the various tools, functions etc etc...

If you don't need all the features of Photoshop, you can buy a limited edition version (I don't know if they still make them though). They are around $100.

Sonny_Jim
February 22nd, 2007, 16:22
Still $100 too much for my tastes. Go GIMP and Blender!

my mistake... i think i got confused with some other software... i went looking and adobes website is a real pain for finding out the basic terms of licence

however, it is still a very good deal, and i will be in the time frame to buy edu CS3 during my degree [ not sure i will though...] and if i can get an order of CS4 during my last months i will try...

Retard.

"Your photosho" wont be any different to everyone elses, thats how it works. It is a bit hard to get used after using all the shitty MS products that all work the same.

But you have to do ctrl+d to deselect (there are other ways) and try using the "move" tool.
