Apple has followed in the footsteps of Google and Facebook by introducing two-step authentication for iCloud.
In a similar fashion to many other companies, Apple’s system will now provide an extra layer of security on top of the existing iCloud passwords.
This extra security procedure will pop up when users try to access their accounts from unrecognised devices.
iCloud users can set up two-step authentication by visiting the Apple ID website and clicking the Password and Security tab.
This new security feature means that although your account will be more secure, Apple will not be able to reset your password for you should you forget it. Great news for Wired editor Mat Honan, who had his various accounts compromised last year (http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/read/recent-hack-forces-apple-to-suspend-phone-based-password-resets/028887) when hackers were able to trick Apple into resetting his iCloud passwords after gathering enough personal information from his email and Amazon accounts.
